This weekend, Australian model Abbey Lee Kershaw fainted on the runway of Alexander McQueen. The industry is blaming a tight corset for causing the problem, but I feel this is just another notch on the belt of insiders who are looking to enforce stricter rules on the fashion industry. Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for healthy body images on the runway, but I feel it’s a bigger problem than just making sure size 4 girls hit the catwalk.

Here’s what happened according to Frockwriter.

“When she was coming to the end [of the runway], back near the [entrance] ramp, I could tell she was having difficulties, because her steps were getting shorter and shorter, they were more like baby steps. I was reading her face and I could see ’struggle’ all over it and I was thinking, ‘She’s not going to make it’. But then she made it to the top of the animals and I thought she was OK, that’s why I turned my back on her to to go back to the main room.

Of course, now Abbey Lee will become the poster child for anorexia (if no one has made this claim yet, let us be the first to speculate) and she will be asked to come onto a couple of news stations and magazines will call her for shoots to show that she is in fact (now) healthy and/or is battling a disease which plagues millions of girls. Anything to prevent Alexander McQueen from looking like a designer who makes dresses that are hazardous to your health (if people faint from wearing your garments, you know you’re gonna have a few problems with wholesales). Either way this probably won’t be the last we see from Abbey Lee, who is quickly becoming infamous for her runway snafu’s (she also recently took a tumble on the runway of Rodarte).

Get to know this girl. She’ll either be the next Ali Michael and become a champion for women with eating disorders everywhere, or she’ll become the next Agyness Deyn and will hit the covers of magazines everywhere in an attempt by the industry to prevent this “faint” girl from casting a bad shadow on the house of McQueen.

Want to see a healthier version of Abbey Lee, check out this shoot from 10 Magazine…

However, we did get delicious insight into the notoriously private Leonardo DiCaprio’s off-screen antics. While everyone involved in the movie swore that DiCaprio didn’t preach about environmental issues ("He doesn’t proselytize about anything, but he was very happy when I bought a hybrid. Put it that way," said screenwriter William Monahan), it seems Titanic's Jack Dawson is a talented mimic. Monahan loved his Nicholson impression best but said that DiCaprio does everybody equally well. Michael Gaston remembers DiCaprio’s imitation of director Ridley Scott. French actor Mehdi Nebbou burst out laughing at the thought of — wait for it — DiCaprio’s impression of Nicole Kidman, which he describes as both a physical and vocal impersonation. Oscar Isaac says DiCaprio does a “great, great” Denzel Washington. "I don’t want to get him in trouble, but it was very funny. I’m sure Denzel would love it," Isaac said, laughing. "It really makes him a badass."

Ridley Scott’s favorite DiCaprio impression? “He took the piss out of me regularly with a very good impersonation of me,” the director told us. Scott says his longtime collaborator Russell Crowe also mimics him. "I'm getting very fed up with it,” Scott said. "I'm actually trying to change my Durham accent, to say you got that wrong, it's not funny," the Brit added.

When Leo himself finally arrived at the red carpet, he told us he considers Jack Nicholson to be his specialty. But, sadly, his publicist dragged him away when we asked to see his Nicole Kidman. "I can’t right now. I've got work to do," he told us.

Last season, Ann Demeulemeester made some pins inspired by Kara Walker silhouettes (without the racial subtext or the fury or the brilliance, of course).

This season, Cynthia Rowley is going one step further, introducing a holiday cocktail dress inspired by the artist's work.

It's actually a pretty great dress, and if it were sold with a different name - the Shadow Dress, maybe - I'd love it. But my stomach gets knocked sideways when you say, "Look, it's the Kara Walker dress," because it's not even subversive, or funny. It just seems hollow and kind of misinformed.

Kara Walker is an artist whose work is so beautiful that it clashes directly with her subject matter - hate, oppression, victimization, blame, poverty, shame, rape, madness. It's so complicated that I still haven't decided how I feel about it, but I do know this:

It feels really oblivious and pretty wrong to make a holiday party frock, and without an ounce of humor, to proclaim it your Kara Walker dress.

But maybe I'm just overreacting - I get worked up when I don't get to see the Chloe show in person, you see...

Love you guys, xo.

Ugh… Chloe has failed to impress me this time. I apologize to any fans of this piece, but I must vent a little. In general, I love Chloe! I admire they’re pieces and look forward to their newbie’s each season. But seriously, who at Chloe Headquarters was so bored, that their ingenious idea was to design this bold blue tote? Soft lambskin leather is the material of choice and props to the weekender size since I love big bags, but where is the kick and the “awe”??! The application of silver hardware was a smart move since gold details would have done wrong to this piece. As for the hue, it’s great. I can see how the color itself might attract Bagista’s, but I’m boring and would rather stick to a neutral instead. A disappointing $1,790 is the big-ticket price for this piece and if you really seek to stock up on one unique bag for fall, this Chloe might just be it. Just imagine that electric blue reflecting off your dark articles of clothing, or not. What do you gals think about this piece? What about bold electric blue for fall, yay or nay?

You're finally cured of the headache of packing, and then it occurs to you that you still have to unpack! Then, something inevitably goes wrong. The faucet only gives off hot water, the movers break something, etc. Then, you think you're all set and ready to settle in and you realize you're out of t.p. Ugh! So, as much as a warm apple pie or a batch of your specialty cookies will taste delightful to your new neighbors or a friend who's just moved, a more useful (and migraine-relieving) housewarming gift is a bucket of the essentials she'll need to get settled. Think about the things that were most helpful to you when you moved. Then, pick up a handsome galvanized bucket, or even a colorful scrub bucket, and then comb the aisles of at the hardware store for those items, as well as any tools and practical items they might need. If you happen to throw a cold Corona or a black-and-white cookie in there while you're at it, I don't think you'll face any opposition.
I'd heard of the brand just in passing and wasn't particularly interesting in their actual jeans, but rather in the promise of "18th century Swedish costumes made out of worn-out jeans." I imagined lots of denim recycled and repurposed into really amazing looking dresses and coats, maybe even a few things I'd want to wear. Sweet.
Unfortunately, all of the "costumes" to be seen that night had already been shown on the invitation, at right. Everything else was just skinny jeans and t-shirts. Um, yawn!

I mean, don't get me wrong: it's great that these jeans didn't end up in a landfill somewhere, but perhaps a few more ensembles - especially ones that could be streetwear - would have been a welcome interruption from the endless parade of hipster looks that otherwise filled the nearly half hour (!) runway show. I would love to have seen that front dresses' corset turned into a vest, for example.

Recycled clothing, for the most part, takes more mundane forms for the average shopper. Unless you go the DIY route, the offerings include pieces like the Eco Fleece Hooded Wrap Jacket, at left, from Gaiam. I love the plum color (it's also available in a charcoal gray) and the fact that it's made from recycled water bottles.

It looks super soft; perfect for the weekend. But the price tag - $100 - is cost prohibitive for many eco fashionistas. This definitely has to be an investment item.

Elsewhere, companies like Patagonia utilize a variety of recycled fabrics such as "Synchilla," which is comprised of up to 86% recycled materials, and Thermogreen insulation (90% recycled) through the Common Threads Recycling Program. These materials can be found in products for men, women, and children, but will cost you a pretty penny. The adorable Baby Reversible Puff-Ball Bunting costs as much as this Gaiam wrap!

The amazingly cool pieces being produced across the pond (i.e. London) by Worn Again (motto: "Our Fashion is Rubbish") take the concept of recycling to a new level.

Their Worn Again Virgin "Lydia" bag, for example, are made from the following "indredients," which are listed on a tag inside of the messenger-style satchel: Virgin Atlantic seat covers, seat belts, bicycle inner tubes, factory scrap materials.

Yep, you read that right: seat covers and seat belts! These LaDainian Tomlinson x Nike Sportswear 1 World Air Force 1 are off the hook! You can’t go wrong with icy clear blue soles. The croc-skin in white, keeps it subtle and classy, and also make this one of the hottest AF1’s we have seen in a while. You can’t argue with that.

These are part of a limited early release, only 50 pairs each, available at two stores, Attic and Blends on October 12th. They’ll be tailgating at both stores. As kick-off…er…I mean the shoe release will be at 2pm. If you can’t get the shoes, happy hour starts at 3pm, to help you deal with your sorrows.

Oh, and 1 last detail that I forgot. 21 pairs at each location will be signed by LT himself. 1 pair will have 2 tickets to the Chargers vs. Patriots game, which will also include ride to the game, plaza level seating, and lightning pavilion access.

The rest of the world will get their chance at these LT Air Force 1’s on the 17th of October. Check the details after the jump via Nike Sportswear.

Hit And Miss Of The Week: Britney Looks Great

I know Britney officially made her comeback a while ago, when she stopped roaming the streets and started wearing knickers. But this is the first week since her comeback where she has dressed well consistently. I'm not saying I want to copy her look, or that it is really exciting, but she looks good and the clothes flatter her shape. I think don't think Britney should follow trends, if she sticks to what she is doing - wearing simple clothes in block colour - she wont go wrong.
Not just Britney got hits this week, everyone did. Even Victoria Beckham, who so stole one of my fashion ideas.

images from celebrity-gossip.net and JAK & JIL
