Very Victoria

She was my favourite Spice Girl back in the '90s, so it is a little strange that Posh is now a designer too.
What happened to her big grin and cheesy peace signs? As well as her little black Gucci dress? It has now turned into a super-sleek, knee-length, shoulder defining, body-conscious dress. The grown-up Spice.
It was back in September that Victoria unveiled her debut collection [called Victoria Beckham] in New York. She got pretty good reviews too, style.com said: "The woman formerly known as Posh Spice has launched a dress collection, and, believe it or not, it's one of the hottest things going in New York this week."
But since then it has been forgotten, I don't know about you but I haven't read much more about it anywhere. It finally goes on sale this Wednesday at Selfridges, and I wonder if it will be a hit.

It is likely that it will be big, seeing as Victoria has millions of fans and the collection is pretty good, though I can't help thinking of Roland Mouret. It would have been nice to have seen something more original.
She is also launching her own website, victoriabeckhamcollection.com, which officially opens today. I wonder if she'll swap diet tips like Gwyneth does on Goop...

What do you think of the collection. Will it be a hit? Does it deserve to be? If anyone plans on going down to Selfridges on Wednesday let me know if it's busy.
images style.com

by Donna Kelly

Skin is living tissue. It needs regular care and attention to remain smooth, tight and vibrant. Some signs of aging are inevitable, however there is a lot you can do to influence how quickly your skin ages. How fast your skin ages is significantly influenced by the health and lifestyle decisions you make every day. Making unhealthy choices can cause premature skin aging.

Here are 10 lifestyle tips to help you avoid premature skin aging.

Don’t smoke: Whether you smoke, or you spend time with a smoker, cigarette smoke is damaging and aging your skin. Exposure to cigarette smoke significantly increases skin wrinkles and dryness. Cigarette smoke depletes your body of Vitamin C which is a key ingredient for keeping skin plump and moist.

Manage sun exposure: The sun’s UV rays penetrate deep into skin tissues contributing to wrinkles, dryness, sun burn and, in the worse case, skin cancer. When spending time in the sun protect yourself with a sun screen. A sun screen with an SPF 15 rating, or higher, is recommended. Remember to continuously reapply your sun screen if you are outside for long periods of time, or have been swimming or exercising. Don’t forget clouds do not protect you from ultraviolet ray exposure. You need to protect yourself from the sun, even on a cloudy day. Don't forget your eyes, wear sun glasses. Long term sun exposure can lead to serious health issues with your eyes.

Contrary to popular belief sun beds are not a safer way to tan. Sun beds also emit UV rays contributing to premature skin aging. For a “skin friendly” tan consider self tanning creams.

Exposure to cold weather: If you live in cooler climes cold winds and low temperatures can also contribute to premature skin aging by drying out your skin. If you venture out in the cold make sure to use a good moisturizer.

Eat healthily: One of the most important influences on our skin health is the quality and quantity of food we eat. A balanced diet is a good barrier against premature aging. By eating fruits and vegetables, especially brightly coloured fruit and leafy greens, we are giving our bodies vitamins and antioxidants that combat the breakdown of collagen and elastin in our skin. Collagen and elastin helps keep our skin tight and youthful. It is also important is to make sure you drink plenty of water every day.

Manage stress: To help reduce premature skin aging due to stress be aware of your stress level. Stress and worry cause frowning and, over time, the muscles in the face actually “remember” the stressed and worried expressions. A good anti aging skin care program should include meditation, yoga, gentle exercise or other relaxation techniques. Keeping stress in check will help you look and feel younger.

Exercise regularly: Exercise has a positive impact on muscle tone and blood circulation contributing to skin health and a more youthful appearance. The benefits of a regular exercise program will show on your face, having a bright smile and lots of energy will help you look younger, at any age.

Think about your beauty products: As you age you should use both lighter coloured cosmetics and hair colours. Lighter colours will be more flattering to your skin lightening skin tone.

It is also worth considering AHA (Alpha Hydroxy Acid) based moisturizers and skin care products. AHAs are natural fruit acids found in fruit, sugarcane, and milk. As skin ages natural exfoliation becomes more difficult and dead skin layers build up. AHAs allow the top layer of dead skin to be exfoliated more easily and help to unblock and cleanse pores. AHAs also loosen inter-cellular fluid smoothing fine lines and surface wrinkles and improving skin texture and tone.

Did you know that your lipstick or lip gloss can help your lips not only look great but can also protect them from the sun at the same time ? When choosing your lip products look for lipsticks or lip glosses that contain Sesame Oil and Vitamin E.

Moderate alcohol use: Alcohol contributes to skin aging by dilating small blood vessels in the skin and increasing blood flow near the skin's surface. Over time these blood vessels can become permanently damaged and broken.

Moisturize: Think of all the hot showers and baths you have taken; sure, they clean your skin, but they also dry it out. Our skin also gets drier as part of the aging process. The best thing to combat dryness is, of course, to moisturize. Your local drug store or beauty spa sells a great variety of moisturizers, and one of them will be just the right for your skin type. Ask the beauty advisor or pharmacist for assistance if you’re not sure which one to buy.

Get enough sleep: While we sleep our body, including our skin, recharges and prepares for the next day. Take time to get some sleep – at least 7 to 8 hours per night.

Donna Kelly is a trained makeup artist with her own beauty business. It is scientifically proven to dramatically decrease the signs of aging. This targeted, fast acting formula begins to work in just ten minutes and achieves more dramatic results with continuous use.

Clinical testing has shown that using this product improves skin smoothness by 33% in two weeks, diminishes fine lines and wrinkles by 45% in eight weeks, and increases hydration by 37% in eight weeks.

Review: I received this product a few months ago. I usually give skincare products a review after a month's usage. However, I thought I'd give this product a little time before reviewing it. I had to review a couple of acne skincare products at the time anyways and did'nt want to cause an interference. I can't honestly say how well this product works with wrinkles since I don't have any yet, but I can say that this product has made my face feel very taut and firm. I was a little worried about using this at first, because I have sensitive skin and usually anything "anti-wrinkle" causes breakouts since most anti-wrinkle products are geared for dry skin. I have combination skin. Therefore, I get a little tense when trying out a skincare product I've never tried out before. Suprisingly, this product did'nt cause any breakouts whatsoever. I'm even more impressed with the Murad line now. The only thing that fazes me about the product is the price.

As far as you're concerned, you've found "the one" – only he isn't quite ready to be your "number two." He resolutely refuses to indicate his commitment. So how come you're ready to settle down, yet he isn't? Here are 10 possible reasons why he won't commit.

1) He's Not Over His Ex
Well, of course he says he's completely over his ex. There's even a chance he believed it himself too – and that it took getting involved with another woman for him to realize he wasn't. While it's difficult to admit to yourself – and to each other – that you could be his rebound girl, it's best to discover the truth as early as possible. Look for signs of his lingering feelings – especially if an unusually short amount of time has passed between that relationship and yours. The number one sign: a fridge-mounted or framed photo of his ex that has yet to make it to the back of the drawer.

2) He Had a Bad Experience with his Ex
If he's still bearing the scars from a bad breakup, chances are that he's not ready to leap into another one. Depending on how badly that relationship ended, it could take him some time to realize that you're not going to cause the same damage. Right now, he may be looking for signs that it's all going to go to hell in a handbasket – and, of course, the more he looks, the more he'll find. It'll take a fair degree of patience on your side to get beyond this.

3) There's Someone Else in the Picture
If you've not officially declared yourselves "exclusive" or if your boyfriend has a history as a double-dater, he could be sidetracked by other opportunities. Some men like to keep their options up in the air for as long as possible before making a decision, and unfortunately, you could be the unwitting victim. Watch out for the obvious signs – mysterious schedules, dubious stories, regular periods when he is incommunicado – and if you're still concerned, ask him straight out.

4) He's Totally Happy with His Life
Despite dipping their toes into the dating pool, some men actually don't want a girlfriend. Sure, he may enjoy the companionship and those other relationship benefits, but only as an adjunct to the rest of his life. If his priorities are his friends, his hobbies or even his basic "me" time, he's only going to have a little extra room for the joy and wonder of you ? which is fair enough, unless you're wanting a more central position in your partner's life. If you do, you may have to look elsewhere.

5) It's All About the Money
Money can be an issue in many relationships, but it can also stop a man from committing to a relationship in the first place. Maybe his focus is on work and he wants to become more established and earn a decent wage ? maybe own his own home too ? before channeling his energy and time into a relationship. Or perhaps he's seen firsthand how a divorce can destroy a man's financial standing, and he's just not ready to take that risk. In the first case, he'll need to know that you understand his ambitions and that you won't get in the way; in the second, offering a prenuptial agreement (while it may not sound romantic) could put his mind at rest.

6) He's a Romance Junkie
Some men are addicted to the process or even just the idea of falling in love. They love the flirting, the first dates, the getting-to-know-you stage and the chance to tell all their stories to fresh ears. Once they have passed this stage, however, they're bored and ready for the next bit of excitement. Again, check out his relationship history to see if your man is a romance junkie; look out for a number of one- and two-month relationships.

7) He's Feeling Pushed
Sometimes even willing partners can feel so pressured into being in a relationship that they'll run away. Men – and women too ? generally need a little time to figure out if a certain person is the one they want to spend the rest of their life with, and they don't like to feel that they're being coerced into making a decision. So while it's important that he knows how you feel, don't discuss your first home together or your favorite baby names until you've had the time to genuinely establish a relationship.

He's Not Ready for the Responsibility
Along with powerful love come great responsibilities, but not every would-be romantic is quite ready for them. So while he may be thoroughly enjoying your time together, perhaps he's not at a point in his life where he wants to truly consider someone else's point of view. He likes you, but he's not ready to mop your brow when you're sick or comfort you when you lose a pet, preferring an easy-breezy – and yes, selfish – lifestyle instead. And if your biological clock is ticking, he might not want to be around when the alarm goes off. Or, if you already have kids, he may not be ready for the whole family package.

9) He Only Wants Sex
Who would believe it? Some men want to be in a relationship simply so they have easy access to sex. For these men, the old saying rings true: Why buy the cow if you can get the milk for free? Why should they commit to a deeper, longer-term relationship if all they're after is what they're already getting?

Find "The One" With...

10) You're Just Not that One
We all know of the "he's just not that into you" syndrome, but why would he even bother if he weren't? Simply because it's easy, it's there and it's available. You are an enjoyable part of his life – but regrettably, a not-too-important part. He knows you're not "the one," but he kind of likes hanging out and, to put it bluntly, you'll do until something better comes along. He may not even be conscious of how callous that is; instead, he is just mildly aware of an underlying feeling that this is not forever.

So, consider whether any of these may be a reason for his lack of commitment. If you're looking for something more permanent, it's your move.

Time for the holiday's- do you have guests flying/driving in and staying with you and your family? We do, and I am in the midst of re-calibrating the home for guests. Everything changes for a few days while guests live-in and these tips below might help you keep the cog running smoothly (as well as keep your mind chugging along sanely
I plan on trying out a few of these tips for the Master Bedroom, where our guests will stay. We have a 3 BR house for 2 adults and 3 kids so we don't have an extra room to make into a guest room; these tips for making our usual bedroom bit more luxe and welcoming for a guest will come in handy! I already have a nice comforter and bedding set, pillows and little bedside-table baskets that I take out for guests ( they are filled with mini hand-lotions, mints, a reading-light and a book, one for each side of the bed.) But I would like to make things even less like 'our' room and even more like a relaxing retreat away from visiting. In the meanwhile, I plan a big sleepover party for us downstairs- that I have to have cleaned up by 7am each morning when the coffee get's going for everyone blarrgh that means I have to get up at 6:30 instead of 7; yes I know you all feel so sorry for me! lol!! We all sleep downstairs when we have guests so it's pull-out couch and dvd rentals fun for us; the kids love it because they get to sleep downstairs and they like their sleeping bags. My husband doesn't mind the floor, but he hates lying down to sleep on the couch(go figure, since he can sleep for hours sitting up in the recliner and show no signs of soreness, lol ) so I get lucky at these times of year; I get the couch and a splendid couch it is. I still love it, and we purchased it 4 years ago! It's a Lane, it's a sectional(with 3 parts, so it's huge- seats 7) and it is a velvety, mossy green- with a pull-out drink table. And it's VERY cushiony. What's NOT to love?? Didn't mean to hijack my own holiday organizing and readying post with an ode of love for my couch, but...yeah, it's mine so, I can do that and not get yelled at

Hope some of these tips can help you with something~! I enjoyed reading them

5 Tips for Preparing Your Guest Bedroom for Overnight Guests

Company coming? We're here to help with ways to turn your spare bedroom into a cozy retreat.

Preparing a stylish guest suite is a snap with inspiration from 5-star hotels and these five tips:
1. Create an environment that promotes a great night's sleep. Make the bed super comfy by adding a thick duvet and lots of fluffy pillows. High thread-count, 100 percent cotton sheets are also a must.

2. Stock the guest room with magazines and books, and put together a snack tray or basket filled with light snacks and bottled water.

3. Lay out bathrobes and place rolled bath towels at the foot of the bed in case your guests would like to freshen up upon arrival.

4. Hang a small mirror in the guest room to provide a spot for touching up makeup or putting on jewelry. A long dressing mirror is also a nice addition.

5. If your overnight guests are family or close friends, it's always a nice touch to display photos of time spent together in the past; everyone enjoys a trip down memory lane.

Cluttered Master Bathroom Makeover

Mission: Organization : Episode MSO-212 -- More Projects »
Nancy and Larry Fittons' large master bathroom, measuring in at 14 feet by 9 feet with a 4-foot hallway, is in desperate need of a makeover. It's plagued by a poor layout and piles of clutter and confusion.
The closets are overflowing, and the counters are piled high with miscellaneous items. Amy Rehkemper, a professional organizer is brought in to help clear out the clutter and transform the chaos into a functional stylish room.

The soaking tub is not used very often. Nancy doesn't like the fact that she can't stretch out in it, so she has opted to use it as clothes rack instead.

The vanity and supply closet, one of three in the bathroom, are also in disarray. The clothes hamper in the middle of floor is just in the way.

This closet does double duty for shoe storage and cleaning supplies.

This one has clothes in the upper half and more cleaning supplies below.

Nancy has made an attempt at organizing with this rolling cart. The problem is that some of the drawers don't even open properly.

Miscellaneous items fill the shelves and baskets in this closet, making if difficult to find anything quickly.
So what to do? As usual, sorting through everything is step 1. Rehkemper brings in a bin for each type of product/clutter to help Nancy see what she has and decide what to keep or toss. She also brought along a little cheat sheet she devised to help with the task:
To Keep or not to Keep

Love it?

Need it?

Live without it?

Last used it?

Worst-case scenario?

Damaged?

Duplicate?

Would you buy it?

Is it expired?

Out of style?

(Continued from Page 1)

The new his-and-her sink and vanity unit, done in rich earth tones with dramatic wooden accents, adds texture to the room. There's also plenty of drawers below for storage.

This medicine chest was placed conveniently by the sink. To the right of that is an entire wall unit of closets, cabinets and drawers to house Nancy's clothes, costume jewelry and supplies.

The toilet has been moved to a more private location within the room. There's yet another storage cabinet above it.

(Continued from Page 2)

Once the sorting is complete, Rehkemper reveals some of her remodeling ideas. The sweeping changes include removing the single sink and dropping in a double his-and-her-sink and removing the standup shower to add a combined shower/tub unit.
Contractor Steve Waldhauser and his team of professionals are brought in for the construction. Three weeks later, the results are in:

As for all those clothes, Nancy has an abundance of closet space now, and she's learned some spacesaving tricks to boot.

Clothes are now neatly hung with ample space between each piece, and clear bins on the shelf above hold even more supplies.

One of the spacesaving tricks Rehkemper taught Nancy is to have a hanging scarf rack. It's inexpensive and keeps everything in plain view.

(Continued from Page 3)
Rehkemper's Tips

When organizing any drawer, use drawer dividers.

Use sliding drawer trays in drawers.

When possible, store the extra stock of things with the supply you're currently using so you see how much you still have and know when you need to get more.

Store lipstick standing up so you can see the name of the color; easy solution: Punch holes in a necklace lid top and push through the lipsticks.

Don't be afraid to use things other than drawer organizers--she used a kitchen spice rack to organize the nail polish.

Use candy trays for organizing jewelry.

Put a magnetic strip inside a cabinet door for holding tweezers and nail clippers.

There is even room for a shoe rack below the hanging items. Note that it is clear so that Nancy can see exactly what is in there.

The new laundry chute in the wall replaces the clothes hamper that was in the floor and leads to a hidden hamper in a hall closet.

This article also has some good tips, for neatening up those 'junk drawers'(as much as that is possible :

3 Tips To Clearing Clutter In The Kitchen For Holidays and Every Day
by Marilyn Bohn

When you think of clearing clutter what do you think of? I know from my experience as a professional organizer many of us think of getting rid of things but this is just part of clearing clutter. I was given some plates for Christmas that are for everyday use that I love. I put them in the cupboard but I rarely ever used them. I wanted to use them and felt bad because I didn't, so I came up with a simple solution.I simply moved them to a different shelf in my cupboard. I had one of those corner shelves that doubled my cupboard space and I just changed places with some other plates I had had there for a long time and only used infrequently. What a difference such a simple exchange made.

I can now use my plates and eat on them too. (Just like having my cake and eating it to).

We don't always have to get rid of things to think we are clearing clutter.

With a few organizing tips and organizing ideas we can create a home that is organized, functional and welcoming to us and to our guests. As the holidays approach by starting early to look at each room in our homes to see if we need to do some clutter clearing we will be less stressed not only during and before the holidays, but actually all year around.

Here are some of my favorite organizing tips. Let's start with the kitchen: junk drawers can be a hassle and junky or they can be resource drawers.

Because so many people in our homes use them and are in and out of these drawers, make it easy for them to put things away after they use it. Have you noticed it is easier to get things out than put things away?

In the resource drawer the key to clearing clutter is to have plenty of containers, you can use several different sizes, depending on your needs.

In one container place the pens and pencils. In another have glue and tape. I recommend having one place for every kind of tape your family uses. Then if you ask someone to get tape for you they will know exactly where to go to get it.

Check out your utensil drawer or holder. Are there utensils there you never use and are just clutter? Are there too many spatulas and pancake turners? Are any broken, stained, or rusty that could be thrown away to give you more room in your drawer or holder? If your utensils are in a drawer, install a drawer divider to keep them contained in one place so they don't slide all over.

Do your cupboards hold more dishes that you use making your cupboards crowded and let's say not user friendly? Divide your shelves by type of space. Premium spaces are the places you get into to use the items stored there on a daily basis. The dishes you use about once a week place in a secondary space. And dishes you use about once a year, such as holiday dishes place in semi-storage. You know where they are but they aren't visible on a monthly basis.

By using a few organizing tips and organizing ideas you will feel more confident with clearing clutter, creating space and end clutter in your homes for the holidays and for everyday.

Good news: the Arrested Development cast is super-excited about shooting the long-awaited movie next year. Yay! Bad news: one unnamed castmember isn’t interested. But it’s obviously Michael Cera, who already said he didn’t want to do the movie.

Gah. Cera has basically played George Michael Bluth in all his subsequent films anyway, so I don’t see what the problem is - at least if he signs on to the AD movie no one will be able to accuse him of only being able to play the same character, since he will literally be playing the same character.

Anyway, the movie will go on with or without Cera.
