Have you ever seen Anna Wintour looking so happy? I'm not sure I ever have, so we can probably reliably say receiving her OBE at Buckingham Palace today is right up there with the best moments in her life. The US Vogue editor-in-chief was made an officer of the Order of the British Empire in the Queen's Birthday Honours List earlier this year for services to British journalism and British fashion in the US.

As much as I'd like to make the holiday season all about myself (my birthday is a week before Christmas and normally overlaps with Chanuka, I'm universally left out in the cold), it's REALLY about being generous and helping those less fortunate. (In theory.)

To that end, this holiday season Lavalife, a popular singles destination site, has offered some tips on great ways to "give back" this season. I think a lot of them are plans we can implement in our own lives! (Best of all, it's the ultimate steal and deal: You get quality universal karma, and it normally doesn't cost anything at all!)

Fashion Trends For Autumn-Winter 2008/2009

For Autumn-Winter Bulgarian fashion houses offer a big variety of colors and models of coats that are in accordance with the world fashion trends for the season. The black is seen rarely, the trendy colors are red, blue, lilac, fuxia, green and white, that remind of the summer and create elegant look and spirit. The coats are garnished with embroideries and flowers, outer seams, attractive collars and sleeves that create a fresh appearance. Some models look like dresses with many inverted pleats and frills on the sleeves.

The lengths of the coats vary from about the waist to the knee. The belt is almost obligatory accessory for the outerwear this season.

Salvation Army gala (yum)

The Salvation Army-Albany Area Services presents the 2008 Kettle Campaign Gala and Video Premiere from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, November 25 at the Palace Theatre in Albany.

Albany Mayor Jerry Jennings and The Celebrity Bell Ringers will be on hand (no wored on who the ‘celebs’ may be) and T.S. Ensemble will be serenading the attendees.

You can’t have an event without food, and the grub at this one sounds pretty good. Food stations are provided by: Classe Catering, dp, Yono’s, Hollywood Brown Derby and Prime 677. Top that off with desserts from Coccadotts and 74 State Street with a dessert and tea station hosted by Starbucks. I want to go just for the food!

It’s not fancy — this invite says business attire — and tickets cost $100 for the general public, $75 for juniors (age 35 and younger).

(I wonder if my bell-ringing friend will be there?)
