Target continues to roll out the designer collaborations. The retailer has announced its partnership with award-winning designer Rogan Gregory and his business partner Scott Mackinlay Hahn of Loomstate. The Loomstate for Target collection will feature certified organic offerings at affordable prices. With both men’s and women’s apparel, the collection will launch on Target.com and at select Target stores nationwide on April 19, 2009, just in time for Earth Day! The pieces will be available through May 16, 2009. We can’t wait! ~ Erin Dustin

Everyone is talking about going GREEN nowadays, which is a good thing. When Rogan and Target collaborated on an organic collection it was a big hit, so they’re at it again. According to WWD, Rogan Gregory “will create a stand-alone collection for Target based on Loomstate, the eco-friendly line he launched with Scott MacKinlay Hahn in 2004. The Loomstate for Target line will offer environmentally friendly fashion for women and men, priced between $14.99 and $44.99. The collection uses environmentally sensitive materials such as 100 percent certified organic cotton and sustainable fibers like linen and silk. Iconic Ts with graphics inspired by nature such as leaves and trees, authentic washed denim and relaxed hoodies, boardshorts, tanks, jackets and simple chic dresses are representative of Loomstate’s easy, fashion-forward sensibility.” The collection is slated to release on April 19, 2009 to May 16, 2009 at select Target stores and Target.com. The launch is timed to coincide with Earth Day on April 22nd.

His Loomstate line, based entirely on organic cotton, is set to hit Target stores (and their site) from April 19 to May 22nd, with the tote-friendly price range of $14.99 - $44.99.

Guess all the work Target put into making themselves green enough for Gregory really paid off - this is the first designer to formally go on a second date with the mega retail chain, even if they'll never admit that it's basically a Go International encore for one of their most popular editions yet.

In a fun twist on traditional holiday cheer, Barneys New York has skipped the holly and the ivy in favor of a groovy Volkswagen Beetle and store windows with a 60s vibe.  Designed by Barneys Creative Director, Simon Doonan, Peace and Love: Have a Hippie Holiday not only celebrates the 50th anniversary of the Peace sign, but also what it symbolizes in terms of fashion.

Sustainable designs commissioned by the Earth Pledge FutureFashion Initiative are being showcased in the various displays, with many top names represented, including: Rag & Bone (co-designer Marcus Wainwright with son Noah, below), Derek Lam, Calvin Klein, Doo.Ri (bottom), 3.1 Phillip Lim, Alexander Wang, Narciso Rodriguez, Thakoon, Rodarte, Michael Kors, Donna Kara, Ralph Lauren, Dosa, Duro Olowu, Marni, Stella McCartney, Rogan, Three As Four, Behnaz Sarafpour, Diane von Furstenberg, Zero Maria Cornejo, Natalie Chanin, Isabel Toledo, Band of Outsiders, and Maison Martin Margiela.

"Never has it been a more important time, with worldwide current events as they are, to spread the message of Peace," explains Leslie Hoffman, Director of Earth Pledge, which seeks solutions to the current environmental crisis by collaborating with farmers, fabric mills and designers. "The fashion industry has a strong affect on this generation of consumers and we are demonstrating that style is attainable without sacrificing environmental values. The designers have produced stunning looks that capture the quality of the fabrics while embodying peace in every piece."

CFDA/Vogue fashion fund awards. 

Alexander Wang won the $200000 prize… with Vena Cava and Albertus Quartus the runners-up. The judges have this ‘trend’ of picking winners. One year he/she is someone more recognized and the next is someone more to the underrated side. Past winners are 04′ Proenza Schouler, 05′ Trovata, 06′ Door Ri, 07′ Rogan. I was hoping for Richard Chai or Vena Cava to get it this time but they went for the more well-known Wang instead. Actually, I don’t think his Spring 09′ collection was stellar… but with this sum of money he will surely churn out a show-stopping collection for Fall 09′. Another thing to look forward to is probably the GAP design edition. Alexander Wang for GAP, sounds good already.

And lastly, Rodarte won the Swiss textile awards, worth 100000 euros. Thats around 70000 lesser than the CFDA/Vogue prize but hopefully they will make good use of those fundings and expand into their own shoes and accessories line with that money. Rodarte’s own shoe line? Sounds very good too.

Alexander Wang took home the CFDA's biggest prize last night, flanked by runners-up Sophie Buhai and Lisa Mayock of Vena Cava, and Albertus Q. Swanepoel of Albertus Quartus.

Wang now joins the ranks of past winners Proenza, Trovata, Doo Ri and Rogan to go with his two years of mentorship, not to mention the $200,000 to grow his business. So between his CFDA award and his Shu deal, Alex should be rolling in it like Scrooge McDuck.
