Yesterday was a special day for Ashlee Simpson with the birth of her new boy.  Wondering how exotic this time around a celebrity couple pulls off naming a child?

Simpson-Wentz, 24, delivered a boy, named Bronx Mowgli Wentz, on Thursday, and all are doing well, People quoted a spokesperson as saying.

The report did not specify a location, but rival tabloid In Touch Weekly reported earlier on Thursday that Simpson-Wentz was at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles.

Bronx and Mowgli.  That name alone encompasses so many different characteristics.  For one, it sounds like when this kid grows up, he might be able to take on both of his waify parents with just an aggressive name as Bronx.  However, the Mowgli thing is confusing.  Why would anyone ever name their child after a naked Indian boy who runs around in thier underwear?  I’m guessing that is something he’ll have to ask his father later on.  I can only hope if there is anything that gets passed on from her mother, it’s not her inability to lip sync.

Last week, anonymous sources and "network insiders" assured "Page Six" that My Own Worst Enemy and Lipstick Jungle — the two shows that NBC reportedly axed from its schedule recently — were all the fault of Universal Media Studio president Katherine Pope and certainly not the work of impeccably eyebrowed network wunderkind Ben Silverman. We thought the quotes ("They call her the black widow. Every program she touches turns to death") sounded a little Silvermanian, and apparently the entire TV industry agreed! The Daily Beast's Kim Masters reports that "the industry's collective assumption was that the item came, directly or not, from Pope’s boss, Ben Silverman, head of NBC." ("Page Six? What is Katharine Pope doing on Page Six?" says a top executive at a rival network, who is clearly ABC's Steve McPherson. "It's obvious where it came from.") Most hilarious of all, as Masters points out, is that Pope has frequently been mentioned as a possible replacement for Silverman should his oft-rumored firing ever come to pass.

Also, totally apropos of nothing, we wonder who authored the second comment on this post.

"Whenever I tried to be funny in auditions, I'd always get, 'He's way too scary. This is supposed to be a funny part and he was terrifying,'" recalls British actor Robert Pattinson, furrow-browed. But though those frightening table reads might have nixed his potential as a rom-com anchor, they served him well for his breakout part: "Twilight's" impossibly perfect, undead heartthrob Edward Cullen.

"It was ridiculous, the descriptions of the character from page 1 - 'He comes in, achingly beautiful.' It was an embarrassment to even go to the audition," he recalls.

Nonetheless, he aced the part. The role wasn't his first attempt at fang-bearing - "I remember when [HBO's] 'True Blood' was first starting out. I auditioned for it and didn't get it."

Pattinson wasn't fazed once he was cast in "Twilight" (which opens Friday). He easily mastered an American accent without a dialect coach. "Every actor I like is American - I mean, I always say I've stolen things from James Dean's voice, the way he slurs his words, just for chatting up girls and stuff."

But it's Hugh Grant, not Dean, he most frequently calls to mind. So much about the two upper-class Brits is the same: wide-set eyes, schoolboy baffledness, a bumble-and-mumble manner - even an equally floppy thatch of hair, which Pattinson said he hasn't washed for six weeks.

He has Grant's aw-shucks modesty, too. "I still don't understand why people love the character to this obsessive degree, the chivalrousness and opening doors and stuff. Don't understand why a teenage girl would care."

He only realized the coming tsunami of adulation after appearing at the recent Comic-Con convention. "Until the moment I walked on stage, I had no idea - then they put the word 'Twilight' on the screen and 7,000 girls were screaming for 45 minutes."

Since then, Pattinson's personal appearances to promote the film have been mobbed. At the NYC Apple Store, a frenzied meet-and-greet had to be canceled due to fan hysteria.

Reaching this level of fame is a strange experience for Pattinson. He started as model in London, working for Nicole Farhi, among others. "I was doing it at 12, the youngest person in my agency out of the girls or boys. I was so ridiculously skinny I looked like a girl, but that was the period where they loved androgynous-looking people."

Then he joined a drama club simply because all the pretty girls went there. He and best friend Tom Sturridge - whose father, Charles, is a well-known British director - were soon auditioning together, often for the same part. "We go up against each other every single time, even though we look completely different."

Both Tom and Robert were cast in the Reese Witherspoon remake of "Vanity Fair," but Pattinson's part didn't make the final cut.

"But that's why I got 'Harry Potter' - the casting director felt guilty," he laughs. You'll remember Pattinson as the doomed Cedric Diggory. "I wouldn't mind doing more 'Harry Potter' because you get paid in pounds."

From there, he got the equally doom-laden role of Edward. And now, only teen dream Zac Efron, the fleet-footed icon of "High School Musical," can rival Pattinson's star trajectory.

He and Efron met behind the scenes at MTV's Video Music Awards, and the world didn't implode when 'tween matter and anti-matter came together. "He's such an iconic face, the embodiment of the modern face of celebrity," Pattinson muses about Efron. "But he was the opposite of how I thought he'd be - completely upfront and honest. You'd think people will be really media-trained and he's really not."

But Efron can relate to that distinctive brand of fame both will experience - hormonally powered devotion. "The fans are very judgmental - they have very specific ideas of how you should live your life," says Pattinson. "Who would have thought teenage girls would be the most moralistic?"

He recalls how his sleepy-eyed expression has been mistaken for drug-taking. "Yeah, right, I'm going to my Disney interview smoking crack," Pattinson says sarcastically.

Although Efron has juggled singing and acting with aplomb, life-long musician Pattinson (who even croons one of the anthems on "Twilight's" soundtrack) shrugs off the suggestion he could record an album now. "I wouldn't do it at the same time as acting. I mean, the whole thing I find quite embarrassing. I don't like the idea of saying, 'You're in the public eye, now is the time to release an album because people will buy it.' I don't care if people buy it or not."

He's sanguine about success.

"My attitude from the beginning has been, 'If you start failing, do not start going on reality TV shows.'"

Well, except maybe "America's Next Top Model." Pattinson breaks into a wide, beaming grin when he mentions an upcoming engagement. "I'm doing 'Tyra' in a few weeks and I'm really excited about it. I love that show. It's my favorite TV show."

The "Model" judging panel, no doubt, would tell him to vamp it up.

In early January 2007, a private tape of Hazell and ex-boyfriend Lloyd Miller was released on the internet. The video was shot whilst the couple were on holiday in Tenerife, Canary Islands, Spain during the previous year, on or about 30 May 2006.

Following the tape’s leak, Hazell was reported to have been very upset, and she called the police in an attempt to find out who leaked the tape. The video is still widely available on the Internet.

As a teenager, Hazell was a frequent truant and stayed out late on school nights drinking. She confesses to having only taken five GCSE examinations due to being ejected from several of them; however, she did very well in mathematics and English.

As of November 2006, Hazell lived in an apartment in the London Docklands.

In January 2006, Hazell made headlines when Chelsea F.C. football player Joe Cole was beaten up at a party held at her Grove Park house. She spoke to The Sun in March, denying rumours surrounding the incident.

Modelling Career

At 16 years of age, Hazell left school to work as a hairdresser. Her work colleagues persuaded her to try her luck at modelling. At 17, she competed in The Daily Star’s “Search for a Beach Babe” contest and won. Still not old enough to pose on Page 3, she went to study fashion at Lewisham College. But later, a friend told her about The Sun’s Page 3 Idol competition. Despite some initial uncertainty about entering the contest, she submitted some photos. She was eventually chosen the winner in December 2004. She won £10,000 worth of “sexy clothes” and “a one-year membership of the Rex cinema and bar”. Three cast sculptures were made of her bust by sculptor Leigh Heppell. Two are in the Sun offices and one is in her house.

Another part of Hazell’s Page 3 Idol win was a one-year exclusive glamour modelling contract with The Sun. She is currently being handled by Jon Fowler.

Hazell regularly featured in Zoo and continues to appear in The Sun at least once every two weeks. She has been on the cover of The Sun’s 2006 and 2007 Page 3 calendars, in addition to her own wall calendars, the 2007 edition selling 30,000 copies in its first few days of release. In April 2008, Hazell left Zoo and signed an exclusive deal to appear in their rival magazine Nuts.

Hazell was the face of Sony Computer Entertainment Europe’s Formula One 06 video game for PlayStation 2, PlayStation Portable, and F1 CE for PlayStation 3. She is currently the face of MotorStorm: Pacific Rift for PlayStation 3.

Hazell had a small role in the full-length version of Cashback, playing “Frozen Girl in Sainsbury’s.” She was in talks with producers to be in a movie based on the television series Baywatch.

Alongside IT expert Gary Schwartz, Hazell is the presenter of Byte Me TV, an online programme that explains technology in an easy to understand way.

In 2008, Hazell appeared on the BBC Three documentary Page Three Teens.

Charitable work

Hazell was hailed by the Conservative Party in December 2006 as an “environmental hero” for her campaigns in The Sun, giving environmental tips such as turning lights off during sex and using digital cameras. She was named alongside the likes of David Attenborough, Prince Charles and Arnold Schwarzenegger in the Tories’ list.

She has backed a major breast cancer awareness campaign for Breakthrough Breast Cancer. The campaign called TALK TLC aims to promote Breakthrough’s breast health message about the need to be aware of the signs and symptoms of breast cancer. Hazell has also signed up to take part in the Breakthrough Generations Study consisting of 100,000 women and spanning 40 years - the study aims to be the largest and most comprehensive of its kind.
