Christian Dior ruled French fashion during the 1940s and 1950s. He not only came up with the New Look that produced the hourglass figure, but also introduced a business strategy that, in just 10 years, would establish him on a global scale as the brand for luxury goods. Dior's first collection came out in 1947 and showcased the New Look. It featured soft, rounded shoulders, a cinched waist, and full flowing skirts.

Christian Dior died suddenly in 1957 of a heart attack while undergoing treatment in a spa in Italy. Here we go, round up of the weekend's fashion articles, reduced down to one small age of links.

Sunday Times, as ever, my first resort, gives us an article about brogues, details about that red Gap Mulberry bag and how to be fashionable in the office. It's also FREEEEEZING here, so I've put in this article about being cosy and chic. I'd also love some of the gloves in this article!!

The Guardian also puts in a fine selection. I particularly like their picture shows this week, wiht one about sequins and one about their top 10 winter buys. Apparently, whilst shoppers are shunning the high street, they're loving the high fashion websites! I also found this interview with Andre 3000 and Celia Birtwell very interesting. For a bit of a laugh, I liked the Observer Women/Grazia awards.

Enjoy! Oh, and for the anonymous "Fugger", why don't you read this by Gala Darling? It might make your day better! And FYI, my pink boots aren't pleather, they're leather.

Caroline Caz Pal: Michael Phelps Girlfriend

Caroline “Caz” Pal, Michael Phelps‘ girlfriend, spent Thanksgiving in Baltimore with the Olympic champ and his family.

Caroline Pal is a 26-year-old cocktail waitress at the Moon Nightclub in the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas.

“She’s there [in Maryland] meeting his family for the first time,” a source close to Pal told People magazine.

Phelps has been spending time in Las Vegas working on his poker game and hopes to participate in the 2009 World Series of Poker.

Some people think Caz is the cocktail waitress Phelps was groping in the infamous photos that made the rounds on the net a few months ago. ‘Memba those?

I haven’t been able to dig up much on Caz, however, I did note that there was an event at Moon Nightclub on October 16, titled “Champagne Seduction - A Birthday Celebration for Caz,” which was touted with the promo below.

I also found a Facebook profile for a Caz Pal in Los Angeles. Not being on her friend’s list, I was only able to see the thumbnail picture, but after enlarging it a bit, I have to say, I still can’t tell much.

Could the Caz in the birthday celebration photos be the same as one of the girls in the Facebook pic? And if so, then it definitely doesn’t look like the same girl in the aforementioned groping photos…

That chick is blonde. So for now, it’s anybody’s guess what Michael Phelps’ girlfriend looks like, but if you are in the know and would like to share some more info, we will be more than happy to pass it along!

One thing I have learned is that cocktail waitresses at Moon Nightclub apparently have one up on the rest of us in meeting and dating celebs. George Clooney’s ex-gal pal, Sarah Larson, also worked at the club when the two met.

The Hills stars Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag shocked fans by eloping in Mexico last week at the One & Only Palmilla resort. Now they are defending their marriage and the fact that many think it’s a scam.

The newly married couple is still in Mexico but Spencer took a little time to provide a statement to USmagazine.com.

“We had a beautiful ceremony at One & Only Palmilla officiated by a minister and photographed by the hotel photographer. We’ve never been happier. Like other elopements that happen outside the country, we’ll take care of the legal details when we get home.”

Executive producer Liz Gateley says that the marriage will play a big part in the new season of The Hills fifth season. Cameras are still in Mexico filming the couple’s honeymoon.

Other stars who have been married in Mexico include, Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon, Jewel and Ty Murray. Another famous couple, Eddie Murphy and Tracey Edmonds got married on Bora Bora in French Polynesia on January 1, 2008. They opted not to legalize the marriage when they returned to the U.S. and ended their relationship.

Mischa has picked the perfect man to dress her for what was, all things considered, the bash of the century. With the earthy, boho vibe she's been working so well recently, there really only was one choice - Matthew Williamson, a man known for his hippy luxe designs. The styling is all in keeping with the Grecian theme that Mischa's got going on with her one-shouldered gown here - the bangle round her arm, the coin necklace, the curls in her hair. In fact, it's almost a little too in keeping. There's no one element that we don't like - overall, it's a gorgeous look as usual from Ms. Barton. We'd just like to have seen something a little more individual...

Michael Kors Jeweled Clutch

I hate having to rag on one of my favorite designers but I know he will understand. Afterall, he told me if one can learn to take criticism, one can learn a lot from it. I want you to stare at this clutch for a minute... now close your eyes. Are amoebas crawling around in technicolor? I actually love the multicolored python, it's cheery and perfect for resort but those jewels on there look like bugs and give me goosebumps. They also look like an afterthought, the design team should have left the clutch alone. Sorry Michael, I love you but this isn't doing it for me.
