Not only is she France’s First Lady, but Carla Bruni-Sarkozy is also a vehement fighter in the fight against AIDS, due in part to her brother Virginio Bruni-Tedeschi’s death two years ago.

The model-turned-singer was spotted at a press conference held at the Hotel Marigny in Paris, France earlier today.  She chose today as the launch of her new mission because it is World AIDS Day.

The squeaky-clean singer wanted to research her role as drug-ravaged R&B legend Etta James in the upcoming movie, “Cadillac Records,” and spent lots of time talking to recovering addicts at Brooklyn’s Phoenix House. As a result of her experience, next week’s premieres of the film in New York and Los Angeles will benefit Phoenix House.

TV3 announced the host and judges for New Zealand’s Next Top Model today. Model and celebrity manager Sara Tetro will act as host and former model Chris Sisarich and model/actor Colin Mathura-Jeffree.

“I’m really looking forward to getting to the different parts of the country and meeting girls who might normally think this is beyond their reach,” Sarah told Stuff.co.nz. “I love hearing someone say ‘my neighbour, friend or mum made me come along’. These are the girls who might not realise they’ve got what we need.”

I’ve never heard of Sara before this announcement, and after some quick research learned that she runs 62 Models & Talent, a modeling management agency. She’s married to former All Black husband Craig Innes and has two daughters. The Sunday Star Times ran a profile about her back in July and you can read it here.

Chris Sisarich is a photographer/model (sound familiar?) who is represented by Sara’s agency. You can see his photography portfolio here.

Colin Mathura-Jeffree is also represented by Sara, and his “actor” part of his biography is pretty small.

I’m excited to see what this threesome does with NZNTM. I’m especially interested in what role Sara will take on in the show. As a manager, I’m sure she knows more about creating successful models than many former models would. But would this business-oriented attitude take away from the entertainment value of an NTM-franchise? What do you think?

The Scottish Rowan Tree Collection
The name rowan is believed to derive from the Norse runa - a charm. It was often planted outside houses to ward off witches. On May Day, a spray of rowan leaves was hung over doors to repel evil. The rowan, or mountain ash, is found commonly in Scotland, sometimes clinging to a rock face.

Following her graduation from Edinburgh College of Art, Sheila worked 26 years as a designer in the trade before setting up on her own in 1993. Throughout her career she has won many design awards in both Britain and Europe.
