DJ Clark Kents Black Friday

Black Friday was a movie.

Something that has never been done was accomplished. Three cities, three stores, in one day. All for what? The release of DJ Clark Kent’s “Black Friday” Nike Air Force 1. Never mind the 1600 miles flown or running across the east coast with no sleep, 300 pairs of kicks sold out between the three cities in a combined time equivalent to 3 Hollywood films.

After the business of selling shoes was through, DJ Clark Kent took control of the 1’s and 2’s and thus control of the party in South Beach to finish off the day 24 hours after it all began.

One shoe, three cities, in one day. It was a movie.

The day started with the release of the Black Friday Air Force Ones at NSW in New York City. A crowd peered into the windows standing on a windy, 34 degree morning hoping to catch a glimpse of the shoes that no one had seen. The doors opened promptly at 4AM where the lucky few were able to get their hands on the shoe that everyone would be talking about for the rest of the day. Ninety-five minutes later, gone. Sold out. No mas. The NSW staff could not possibly run the cash register fast enough to keep up with the demand for the shoes once people entered the store and caught a glimpse of what they were just about to get their hands on.

She looks healthy and happy in a beautiful cream sweater, and answered questions about her career, motherhood, and her favorite shows on television.

Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie, and the kids come home to New Orleans

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie must be happy - this weekend the Jolie-Pitt family came home to New Orleans. Although they seem to enjoy Europe, they’ve frequently said that they love New Orleans more than any other home base. I think a lot of it has to do with the fact that they get to live a bit more of a normal life (such that it is) there. Yes, people still take their pictures, but you don’t seem to see throngs of cameras following them everywhere.

As a result, Brad was able to go for a motorcycle ride (see here and here). I love motorcycles anyway, but add Brad Pitt to the equation, and it’s even better!

Meanwhile, Angelina Jolie took Maddox Jolie-Pitt to Little Toy Shop in New Orleans to do some shopping. They made some purchases while they were there. I wonder if they’re Christmas presents from Maddox to his siblings or if they were just some “just because” toys - those are always fun to get!

I wonder if there will be any kind of special DVD launch for Wanted which comes out on Tuesday; I didn’t expect a big red carpet event for the Kung Fu Panda release but there she was, so you just never know!

In other news, Brad Pitt is supposed to be on the Today show on December 2nd as well. There had been some questions as to whether it was a live appearance or a previously taped segment but if they’re state-side, there’s a good chance it will be live.

I know Maddox is seven now, but it’s still sometimes such a shock to see how big he’s getting! When did he grow so much?!

You know what I love about Angelina Jolie? (Well, okay ONE thing I love about her, among many!) She makes more money than I can even dream of, and yet she’s still wearing those nude flats, shoes I have seen her wear for ages. Not many high profile celebrities wear a pair of shoes to death but she does. I don’t know why, but I love that.

This post has been a long time in the coming since I know Nasha tends to be more popular than I, but to be honest I just do not have space in my purse most days for (suffer no illusions) a rather vain Labbit. Nasha however, can only be ignored for so long before she gets downright bellicose (it must be the rabbit in her, for surely the lamb half should be more pacifistic).
So, out she has been trotted where she demanded to walk on clothes line, to explore local parks, and to try to squeeze in a few places that her rotund figure would not quite fit (she has been indulging in far too much baklava here in Greece). Occasionally, she must be rescued from a tight squeeze or convinced to not get onto that stranger's moped at 5 am (!), but one cannot remain bitter with her--she woos everyone with the questions like "in fifty years will you look back and regret not doing it?" There really is no appropriate response to that other than to commit the act you know you surely shouldn't.
It is no surprise that her favorite quote by Jack Kerouac (and one she often given to declaring in sing-song) is, "because the only people for me are the mad ones, the ones who are mad to live, mad to talk, mad to be saved, desirous of everything at the same time, the ones who never yawn or say a commonplace thing, but burn, burn, burn like fabulous yellow roman candles exploding like spiders across the sky..."
