After the Chocolate x Justin Eldridge x éS collab, skate heads have probably been looking forward to upcoming drops from éS, and now we got it for you.

The éS Footwear Spring 2009 Preview gives a glimpse into the future releases from éS. Spring of 09 will see a number of releases, the Eldridge signature shoe, the Theory 1.5 gets a black and red colorway, along with the Danny Garcia Sig, the Garcia 2, and Cessna Mid. The most creative drop will come in the form of the HI-LO, which features a removable upper ankle so you can unsnap, and unstrap, and have a low top in no time.

FASHION FIX: Preview of Nole's Aussie Open '09 adidas styles

So I've previewed Rafael Nadal's + Roger Federer's Aussie Open '09 Nike duds so let's check out the tennis fashions adidas has come up with for Novak Djokovic.

The defending champ will be working the Edge Polo in phantom which features a black-on-black shadow graphic design on the front and yellow piping on the neckline. The white version showcases the same shadow design in white-on-white on the front body and adidas' 3-stripe trademark in olive and yellow piping on the sleeves. Both Edge Polos showcase the eagle graphic design on the back top-left shoulder Nole debuted at the Masters Cup:

Nole will most likely pair the Edge Polos with the new Edge Bermudas in phantom + olive which have a combination tie + elastic waist and longer length.

The sexy Serb will tie the whole look together with the new sleek + shiny Edge ClimaCool trainers in metallic silver/black/neon yellow.

As you guys know I'm usually pretty tough on adidas for their lack of design innovation and marketing efforts for their top ballers. But, as of late, the sports brand has turned it up a notch and pulled out some interesting and original gear for both Ana Ivanovic + Nole.

Now, while I may not love the actual clothing every time (love the shirts + shoes here, don't love the curtains-as-shorts moment) I can truly appreciate the effort and innovation that adidas has been showing lately.

FASHION FIX: Preview of Fed's Aussie Open '09 Nike styles

I've already previewed Rafael Nadal's Aussie Open Nike gear and now let's take a peek at what Roger Federer will most likely wear at the year's first major.

Fed's style really never sways from the crisp + classic and these Nike duds are no exception. The world's second-best baller will be working the shadow-striped Federer Polo in concord + white (above). It features a contrasting 4-button placket with his ubiquitous 'RF' logo on bottom and a button-down collar design.

The Federer Polos will be paired with the Athlete Woven Shorts in white + obsidian. These shorts are 9" in length and feature a contrasting side stripe and what looks to be a contrast stripe on the front crease and venting on the inside of the leg.

The Swiss stylist's Aussie Open style is rounded out with his fave Vapors VI in white/silver/charcoal.

These outfits, though classic, are really boring and don't feature any interesting design elements or even any great colorways. What's the deal?

Maybe these images don't do the clothing any justice and the actual pieces will pop more - at least I'm hoping so for Fed's sake.

(UPDATED) FASHION FIX: Preview of Rafa's Aussie Open '09 Nike style

The Aussie Open is still over a month away but the 2009 tennis fashions are already being revealed.

Top baller Rafael Nadal's style continues to evolve even after the Spaniard's controversial US Open '08 Nike duds caused an uproar amongst his most loyal Rafanatics. The sports brand has moved away from his 'pirata' look and has infused streetwear elements such as bold colors, stripes, and checkers to create and new, inspired look for Rafa.

The Mallorcan Matador will be warming up for the season's first Grand Slam in the Trend Long Sleeve Coverups in charcoal + white (above).

Rafa has decidedly dropped his trademark sleeveless this time around and has been given three different colorways of the new Short Sleeve Top including turquoise + white, white + classic charcoal, and white + neo turquoise. Rafanatics don't despair: the shirt looks slightly fitted and the sleeves short enough to still show off that coveted buff body.

No Rafa outfit would be complete, of course, without his trademark long shorts so Nike has designed the Long Checked Short featuring an extended tab waist in classic charcoal, neo turquoise, and white.

And it seems the top baller has finally ditched his favored Cages for some new, super cool Air Max Courtballistecs in neo turquoise, black/metallic silver/volt, and black/volt/silver. LOVE.

Like I said last season, I'm excited Rafa is moving in a new direction that still stays true to his individuality and larger-than-life personality. We'll see how the actual clothing looks when its released and I'll be sure to post images once I get my mitts on them.

My New Fave Holiday Lip

Hi, girls! (And boys, because at my reunion last night, SEVERAL dudes in my graduating class 'fessed up to reading BBJ. LOVE it!)

How was your Thanksgiving? Mine was PHENOM. I ate far too much turkey. I received the best gift from my BFF AE Lee, an ENORMOUS Twilight poster (featuring JUST Edward) that my roommate and I have taped up in our kitchen. Yes, I know we're both 28. But that's just where it had to live.

Also, at my ten-year reunion last night, my friend Dana B asked about hair product recommendations. I nearly screamed that she MUST familiarize herself with MoroccanOil. Stay tuned for SO many more details about it. I'm obviously dedicating an entire post to this miracle hair elixer. The copywriting claims it produces "striking shine," and that it does. It's my new holy grail product.

In other hair news, Trish, my high school friend who opened her own FAB salon in Ambler , PA is apparently doing everyone's hair from the class of 1998. Seriously. Every time I complimented someone's highlights, the response was that "Trish did it!" If you live in the Philly area, I HIGHLY recommend you check it out. You can also buy MoroccanOil there. Oh, and also? I am just SO hungover from the reunion. Still. The bar was serving BIG GULP-sized vodka sodas, mmkay? And apparently, I needed like, seven, to party like it was 1998. Also necessary when reuning? Using people's first and last names EVERY time you address them. Also, facebook has rendered reunions totes anti-climactic. Nearly every convo I had went like this:

"Mazel tov on your wedding/new child/job, [FIRST NAME LAST NAME]! I saw it on facebook. I promise I'm not creepy. Saw it in my newsfeed."

Using full names is vital in a reuning situ. But most vital of all was my secret weapon - my lip stain/gloss combo I've named The Holiday Lip. Here's what you need to achieve it.

THE ACADEMY OF ART UNIVERSITY spring 2009 runway show at Bryant Park

ACADEMY OF ART has the distinction of being the ONLY fashion school that shows on the New York Runway. Each season, a handful of students are selected to showcase their designs to the fashion community of retailers and press. Also in the audience are prospective AAU students and their parents. Recently, the excitement level has escalated and the buzz in the air at this show was palpable.
The lucky students who got to come to New York and show their collections this year to a packed house that included Saks' Michael Fink and ANTM [America's Next Top Model] host, Nigel Barker in the front row. The varying aesthetics made for a great overall show mix.

As it's Jamie Cole's second time on the New York runways, we spent our backstage time chatting with her to find out how life was treating her after having been one of the three subjects on MTV’s “REAL LIFE” CLIP.

ABOUT JAIME/BACKGROUND
Jaime is an AAU 2008 MFA Menswear and Textile Designer who was born in Meriden, CT and graduated from Lasell College (Newton, MA) BS in Fashion Design – 2004. She’s graduating this year from Academy [of Art University (San Francisco, CA)] with an MFA in Menswear and Textile Design.

Her motto: “Street art and style always have inspired me to make clothing.”

We’d met Jaime at a preview at the Flatotel in February 2008, 2 days before the AAU runway show at Bryant Park. At that time, we observed her backstage being filmed by MTV watching her watch the show which included a menswear collection she and textile designer, Young Jun Ryu, collaborated on. Upon graduating, Young accepted the job as a textile designer for GM [General Motors] he told us he was considering when we interviewed him at the Flatotel.

SIX MONTHS LATER, at the spring 2009 shows,
Jaime presented her own menswear collection inspired by street art and music. Influences of primitive art of the Northwest Indians are shown through her textile designs and the totem pole shape in her silhouette. Her 6-piece collection was sponsored by Cone Denim. Pieces ranged from a white printed cotton poncho and pant to a white cotton tank and over-dyed cotton pant.

This time, when we spoke with Jaime, it was in a more relaxed setting, as there weren't MTV camera crew video-ing every word.
LYRA MAG: You looked great on MTV, you have real on-camera presence.

JAIME: Thanks, after a while, I just forgot they were there. It was easier in a way, because I was still in school and not facing the pressure of looking for a job, as I am now since I’m graduating this year. In a way, it mattered less.

LYRA MAG: It’s been 6 months since that AAU show in New York and about that long since the MTV episode aired. What we all want to know – has it changed your life?

JAMIE: Yes and no. Yes in that friends call me all the time and say, “Omigod, I saw you on MTV!” No, in that it hasn’t landed me a hard job offer, but it has stirred-up some interest.

LYRA MAG: That’s kind of disappointing, the job part, but it can’t have hurt to have done the show.

JAIME: Yeah, it all helps, everything like this you do that tells people you’re out there is a plus.

MICHELLE CLARK - is currently doing an internship with Diane Von Furstenberg and will be on staff fulltime at Abercrombie & Fitch in January. She is the textile designer for the melted mylar pieces in the collaborative collection with Anne Jones.

MIKE FEENEY'S acrylic shoulder piece from April SF show is worn by Lady Gaga in her "Poker Face" video. Mike's acrylic accessories for WAROT SUBSRISUNJAI in the NY Show.
