Red Carpet: International Emmy Awards

Seeing so many stars of my various fave shows all on the same red carpet was sort of like the Laff-a-lympics. Unfortunately, I had to go it alone on this red carpet as my entertainment editor Lauren couldn't join me due to limited room. It was kind of tough to scribble notes whilst furiously taking photos with my lame Canon amongst real, live (and in some cases, cute) photographers, but I made it happen because I owe this to you, dolls. I know you can't live if living is without my commentary on this event.

Oh, and bt dubs? Right across the street was the red carpet for the Australia premiere with Hugh Jackman and Nicole Kidman. Doesn't it just figure that I spent all day thinking I'm cool - I may or may not have started conversations about my plans yesterday evening, making sure to involve the words "serious entertainment reporter" - and then I'm right across the street from an event totally blows my own (admittedly, quite fabulous) event right out of the water? WhatEV. Anywho, check the highlights.

Stanford Blatch (A.K.A. Willie Garson)! YAY! I barely handled my excitedment. He told the crowd (when we asked) that his glasses are vintage, from the '40s. To which, a hilar photog was like, "The only thing cooler than that is saying your glasses are from... the future." Agreed. He looks pretty swank, n'est-ce pas?

This is Vanessa Saba from Peru who looked GORGE. The details on that dress are TO DIE. It goes so well with her haircolor.

This guy's name is Patrick... and he's dead sexy. That's all.

Law & Order's Sam Waterson! I made the Law & Order "dun dun" sound for him.

I loved this sparkly gold sheath.

Kind of short for a red carpet, but kicky and fun. It's very Teen Vogue somehow.

Lipstick Jungle's Paul Blackthorne! He is looking pretty fly, n'est-ce pas? My fave role was the one he played on 24 as a total antagonist a few seasons back. Remember how he spent so much time making Zoolander faces and annoying Jack Bauer?

Gossip Girl's Kelly Rutherford was one of the event's presenters. I thought she looked gorge in her Catherine Malandrino one-shouldered gown. Her hair was twisted into an "undone" knot. P.S. after the event, I had dins at Chipotle where they were totes busy making an order of 80 tacos for a huge order placed for the set of Gossip Girl nearby.

Remember Marcus Schenkenberg? He was the primo male model back in the Calvin Klein grunge days of the '90s. He's still pretty spicy.

Am I a loser for FREAKING OUT upon seeing Judith Light? I feel like I KNOW her from her days as Who's the Boss's Angela Bower. Is it wrong that I still want nothing more than to watch that show uninterrupted every time I'm hungover? Judith, I'm so ready for a "brand new life around the bend." She's a DOLL in person, and very pretty. She was rocking some major lashes with her Nicole Miller gown and Fred Leighton jewels.

Judith adjusted her wrap to be more "Oprah"-style.

Heather Tom rocked out in a form-fitting Herve Leger dress and some to DIE silver shoes.

Check her makeup - I love that plummy lip.

This little dude was so adorable. I just wanted to put him in my little pocket.

Check it! Apropos of nothing, he jumped into a "Bruce Lee" pose!

Brenda Asnicar hails from Argentina, perpetuating the generalization that Argentinians are the best looking people on the PLANET. I think she looked the best overall. I love her girly pink dress. It's by a local Argentinian designer.

Makeup was flawless, and the ballet-style bun was perfect, in keeping with the ballerina theme.

Check out the train. Gorge!

Andrea Roth donned a champagne-colored satin dress. I lurved the color, but didn't love the way the fabric pulled around her pelvis. No, thank you. Hair and makeup get an A+, howevs.

Among a long list of presenters, Shailene is known for her role in the ABC Family series “The Secret Life of the American Teenager” in which she stars as Amy Juergens.

Russell Brand and Jonathan Ross Suspended from BBC

On October 18 Russell Brand and Jonathan Ross got into a lot of trouble with the BBC after they called 78 year-old Fawlty Towers actor Andrew Sachs, and left crude messages. One message said that Russell had intercourse with Sachs’ 23-year-old granddaughter Georgina Baillie. Ross then suggested Sachs might kill himself when he listened to the message.

Aspiring model Miss Baillie, who dances in a burlesque troop called Satanic Sluts, branded the presenters’ behavior "despicable". Baillie also admitted she had slept with Brand. Miss Bailie added that she felt "totally and utterly exposed and betrayed" by the calls.

Since the show was broadcast it received 27,000 complaints. The most disturbing part is that the show had been prerecorded, then aired later.

Mark Thompson, BBC Director-General issued the following statement:

"I would like to add my own personal and unreserved apology to Andrew Sachs, his family and to licence fee payers for the completely unacceptable broadcast on BBC Radio 2. This is not a marginal case. It’s clear from the views expressed by the public that this broadcast has caused severe offence and I share that view. This gross lapse of taste by the performers and the production team has angered licence payers."

The Prime Minister then said:

“This is clearly inappropriate and unacceptable behavior, as is now widely recognized. Ofcom have said they will investigate the matter and it is for the BBC, the BBC Trust and Ofcom to take any appropriate action.”

Russell Brand resigned from the radio show, and said he took "full responsibility" for the prank and declared:

"I only do that radio show to make people laugh."

"Obviously it’s gone beyond the point where I do that and I’m making people unhappy and angry and sad. So I’d like to not do that radio show any more."

Explaining why he made the calls, Brand said:

"I got a bit caught up in the moment."

"I forgot that at the core of the rude comments and silly songs were the real feelings of a beloved and brilliant comic actor and a very sweet and big hearted young woman."

Ross, who was suspended by the BBC, said:

"I am deeply sorry and greatly regret the upset and distress that my juvenile and thoughtless remarks on the Russell Brand show have caused."

"I have not issued a statement previously because it was my intention and desire to offer an apology to all those offended on my Friday night program."

"However, it was a stupid error of judgment on my part, and I offer a full apology."

Sachs said he was not "out for revenge," but did say that he respected Brand’s decision to stand down.

Mr Sachs said he would not take the matter any further, saying of Brand:

"I hope he moves forward, I really hope he does."

This is what happens when professional humor crosses over into childishness.

Guy Ritchie's model lust

Madonna believes Guy Ritchie secretly lusted after his ex-girlfriend during their marriage, it has been claimed.

The singer was reportedly plagued by suspicions the British director preferred his former flame Tania Strecker - a 6ft tall model with 37in legs - especially after Tania claimed Guy was still seeing her when he began romancing Madonna.

A source told Britain's The Sun newspaper: "Tania is stunning and 15 years younger than Madonna.

"Madonna took Guy from Tania, but never really trusted him that he loved her for herself."

The 50-year-old singer is believed to have told friends she fears Guy would have remained with Tania if it hadn't been for Madonna's multi-million pound fortune.

The source added: "Today she is consumed by the fear that Guy was more interested in her for her money.

"And that - if it hadn't been for her fortune - he'd have stayed with Tania rather than marry her."

In 2001, Tania claimed her romance with Guy was far from over when he began dating the '4 Minutes' singer in 1999.

She also alleged their relationship had only fizzled out "a year ago, a year-and-a-half ago".

If Tania's first claim is true they would still have been together just months before Madonna and Guy's star-studded wedding in December 2000.

If the second allegation is true, Tania would still have been romancing Guy when Madonna was pregnant with the couple's son Rocco, now eight.

When Tania was quizzed on the apparent overlap by radio presenters, she said: "No-one's figured it out so I'm not going to say anything. It might do."

Guy has always strongly denied claims he continued his relationship with Tania while dating Madonna.

The filmmaker has also been forced to deny reports he cheated on Madonna with "a secret lover" towards the end of their nearly eight-year marriage.

His spokesman dismissed the claims as "absolutely untrue".

Spike TV Scream Awards 2008 PHOTOS

The Spike TV Scream Awards 2008 were held on Saturday night in Los Angeles at the Greek Theater. The dysfunctional yet lovable Osbourne family hit the red carpet as seen in our lead photo. The event is dedicated to horror, sci-fi and fantasy genres of feature films - their third annual.

Performing were Billy Corgan and James Iha of Smashing Pumpkins. Others that stopped by the red carpet were Rob Zombie and Sheri Moon Zombie, Marilyn Manson and Twiggy Ramirez, The Suicide Girls models and the VH1 Scream Presenters.

Hello Ponoko. I’ve been m.i.a. with a recent move to Chicago, but I’m back - and with some regional coverage.

Indiana University School of Informatics hosts a course called ‘Interaction Culture’ taught by Jeffrey Bardzell. And HERE is the excellent blog for the class. While the blog was constructed for the course, it is open to public for commenting. Students write on a range of experiences, opinions and news. They recently took note of Ponoko’s very own Photomake.

The blog is a great resource for Cultural Theory, Interaction Design and Questions. (The biggest tags in the category cloud.)

The School of Informatics seeks to “develop new uses for information technology in order to solve specific problems in areas as diverse as biology, fine arts and economics”. From October 1 - 4, the School of Informatics hosted the tenth anniversary Participatory Design Conference. Notable presenters included Natalie Jeremljenko, Assistant Professor of Visual Art at NYU and Finn Kensig, Director at the Center for IT Innovation at the University of Copenhagen. The event featured lectures, workshops, multimedia and art installations.

I wanted to go soooo badly, but with moving I just didn’t have the time or funds. Luckily, photos of everything from breakfast and the hotel carpet to art pieces and workshops are featured at Karin Slegers’ flickr album.

KATY PERRY TO HOST EMAS

Katy Perry ”wet herself” when she was asked to host this year’s MTV Europe Music Awards.

The “I Kissed A Girl” singer will make her presenting debut at the ceremony, which takes place in Liverpool, UK, next month, and couldn’t believe organizers wanted her to take on such an important role.

Katy - who is nominated for Best New Act and Most Addictive Track at the awards – said: “I was so excited when I heard that I was nominated for two awards, but when I was asked to host the show I wet myself, Fergie-style.”

“To follow in the footsteps of previous hosts Christina Aguilera, Tom Jones, Diddy and Snoop Dogg at this prestigious event is an incredible honor - do they know what they are getting into? I just hope that I don’t spill my cocktail!”

Katy will be joined by her regular group of musicians, as organizers look for a “more relaxed and informal event with a musical twist” at this year’s ceremony.

The band will act as the show’s “house band” for the night, taking to the stage to perform with Katy and the other performers and award presenters.

Artists just confirmed to hand out prizes include Sugababes, Solange Knowles, Grace Jones, and Travis McCoy, Gym Class Heroes singer and boyfriend of Katy.

Performers at the awards, which take place on November 6, include The Killers, Pink, Kid Rock, Duffy and Beyonce Knowles.
