Britney Spears appears on the January 2009 cover of Glamour magaine. You can tell she is mentally more healthy because she talks about her "crazy year," and even says "I got your crazy," in her Womanizer song. In the magazine Britney says:

Britney On Making Positive Changes In Her Life:
“Recording this album has helped take my mind off certain things,” Britney says. “For me, my music is therapy.”

Britney On Getting Back In Shape:
“I’m getting there. Recently I started to appreciate my body a bit more from before I had kids. My body…completely changed after giving birth, and I have had to work hard at getting it back.”

Britney On How She Spends Her Free Time:
“I don’t like going out. I hate clubs. I hate being around too many people. I love my home and staying in bed and watching ‘Dancing With The Stars’ or reading a Danielle Steel novel. I’m kind of boring.”

Britney ends with this bit of insight:

“I would like to stop worrying so much because I worry all the time,” she tells the mag. “And to learn how to be happier, just in general. I have to learn to take things not so seriously.”

Congratulations Corey! You win the $250 T.J. Maxx and Marshalls gift voucher. You were a clear winner so we didn’t need to use the tie-breaker question, but the competition was fierce.

Tanya and Cynthia were very close behind, but weren’t quite as complete on question 2. We accepted “yes”, but a more accurate answer is that T.J. Maxx and Marshalls carry both in-season and previous season merchandise. Bonus points went to those who mentioned that more than 85% of the stock is in-season.

Christine, Cherylp and Mishie were also in contention, but lost by a hair on question 1. We gave extra points to people that went beyond the information in the TJX corporate website, or at least acknowledged in their answers that these numbers applied to end 2007.

Antje deserves an honorable mention. She went completely above and beyond, citing her sources and calling the companies to get accurate information on the number of stores. Sadly, she missed on question 4. Although these stores don’t carry couture clothing, they do carry couture brands. Designers like Jean Paul Gaultier and Marc Jacobs run both couture and prêt-a-porter collections, and it’s their prêt-a-porter collections that you’ll find at some T. J. Maxx stores.

People were tripped up by question 5 on the differences between the two TJX off-price chains. Many answers talked about Marshalls, but few mentioned the aspects that are unique to T. J. Maxx.

On behalf of the TJX team, thank you so much for your thoughtful suggestions regarding the shopping experience. It was great to see the positive sentiment about the TJX concept and their retail chains in your responses. The chart below shows the four clear themes that emerged in the feedback: improvements to the organization of the store, improvements to the dressing rooms, more information regarding the stock in the store, and a wider range of available sizes.

Germany held their Bambi awards last week to honor those in media and entertainment. (To give you a vague idea of their merit, Meg Ryan took home the lifetime achievement award.)

Anyway, Britney Spears performed Womanizer, minus Chuck Bass, in a very Madonna-esque ouftit before Karl Lagerfeld presented her with the Pop International Award. We're not positive what that means exactly, but we do know that Karl admires Britney, "not only for [her] art, but also for [her] energy," (emphasis ours) and is thrilled she's come "back not just as a phoenix but as a Bird of Paradise."

You can't really catch the rest due to the German translation, but Meg Ryan's priceless face kind of says it all.

Using my favorite female celebrities plus two *cough* Beyonce and Lauren *cough*. I have created a little collage of my new obsession with red hot lipstick. I can't get enough of it!!! It's bold, delicious, fashionable and in your face. Its so...versatile that it can be worn for a casual day. I love it! I've got at least four or five different lippies here and looking to expand. I think red is the new pink for me. Considering I have a lot of pinks too! Red lipstick speak volume. It says so much yet, it's the only color that has levels of its own. If I wanted, I could slap on and go for a classy/chic look, sultry/sexy and feminine/girlie all with one color. Here's how! If you want to go out and expand your lip colors by adding that red lipstick, then here's a some keys to start with in your hunt for that red lippie...

Make sure you go and get a cheaper drug store brand before you buy an expensive brand. The reason for this is, you don't want to spend so...much money for a lip color you're scared of in the first place. Unless it's from M.A.C they have a return policy that every M.A.C. addict adores! Such as moi! But you also don't wanna make that mistake of believing expensive make up is the best make up. This is so...not true! I love Maybelline and Cover Girl the best, but you can search for the best one that offers the right red you're looking for.

Red isn't always RED. There are, just like the title, many faces behinds red. There are brownish reds, pinkish hues in red, coral red and scarlet. Scarlet is the red itself. Although a few make up brands won't tell you what color the lipstick hue is closer to, having a good eye or at least asking a nearby costumer what color the red is closer to. You just might believe it's closer to coral when in fact it IS a coral lipstick...Sometimes lipstick colors are tricky! So asking someone else or learning different color hues can help...BIG TIME! Also, if you want to go an extra mile, study the color wheel. Print one out at home and carry it with you to the drug store or retail store. That way you can make sure you're not going off the color and hue you intended to buy.

Understand WHY you are getting this lipstick. Is it just to expand or it is for an special event coming up? Usually when you are going to an even and you buy things you think you are going to use when later on, you've changed your mind and go in a different direction. So never try a scary lip color when it's for something that's only gonna happen for ONE day or night! Buying a red lipstick is as scary as buying that new hot buy that every woman wants, but knows if she buys it every girl will notice it and get a lot of feedback both positive AND negative. It's a scary world out there in beauty and fashion. Scary....

The final step in buying a red lipstick is simply buying what you feel is good. No one can tell you what hue it right for your skin tone but you! f*ck what a lot of these "professional" make-up artists are saying, if they are so... professional, they would tell you that make up is to be worn when desired instead of wearing it the way others want you to. I live by this faithfully. I wear brights, bolds and neutrals and you know what? I have a lot of people's best interest when it comes to my opinions and looks for eye shadows, lippies and foundations..So Red lippies aren't as scary after all is it?

Regardless if new lipstick interest is red, pinks or purples, whatever color you choose to rock, I'm sure you'll rock it well! Now I have to run and do some red lipstick shopping...GOTTA GO!

The holiday season officially begins with Thanksgiving and ends after the New Year’s celebrations leftovers are gone. Whether you celebrate Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanza or any other winter holiday, this can be the hardest time of the year to follow heart healthy habits!

Here are some tips to help get you through the holiday season:

Heart Healthy Holiday Eating Tips:
1)	Do not go to holiday parties hungry to avoid overeating at the party. Eat regular meals before the party and do not skip meals. Drink plenty of water before you go.
2)	Avoid talking and socializing around the buffet or in the kitchen.
3)	Watch your portion sizes. Moderation is key.
4)	Eat slowly! Put your fork down between bites. Eating slower allows you to feel full when you have eaten enough.
5)	Avoid high fat items. Fill your plate with healthy choices like fruits and vegetables.
6)	Bring a healthy meal or snack to a potluck dinner.
7)	Take healthy snacks with you when you go food shopping. NEVER go food shopping when you are hungry.
8)	If you are the cook, select healthy dishes prepared in a healthy manner.
a.	Try to bake, broil or grill food. Avoid fried foods.
b.	Use low fat sour cream and sauces. Avoid cream sauces.
c.	When baking, try to use fat free sprays or lower fat ingredients.
d.	Try to add beans to salads, casseroles and appetizers. Beans add fiber to the meal and helps you feel fuller.
e.	Select whole wheat and whole grain products like crackers, bread and pasta. Avoid white flour.
f.	Serve fresh fruit and vegetables. Include fresh fruit in dessert options with low fat cool whip or dark chocolate.
g.	Offer bite-sized desserts that are low fat.
h.	User smaller plates to encourage people to take smaller portions.
i.	Serve fruit and vegetables as the main dish and meat as a side dish.

Heart Healthy Drinking Tips:
1)	Limit alcoholic beverages to one or two servings per day.
2)	Drink a glass of water in between alcoholic beverages.
3)	Eat food prior to and while drinking alcoholic beverages.
4)	Do not drink and drive.
5)	Choose lighter options to cut back on extra calories. Try spritzers, lite beer or low calorie mixers. Avoid drinks mixed with cream and frozen drinks.)

Heart Healthy Activity Tips:
1)	Participate in outings that involve physical activity like skiing, sleigh riding, ice skating and walking.
2)	At the shopping malls park in the furthest spot from the store to increase your walking.
3)	Go window shopping and enjoy the holiday decorations. Take your pedometer with you and count your steps. Aim for 10,000 steps per day!
4)	Dance at holiday parties.
5)	Schedule exercise/physical activity into you routine. Exercise increases your energy level.
6)	Take the dog for a walk and enjoy the holiday decorations in the neighborhood.
7)	Go Christmas caroling.
8)	Cut down your own Christmas tree.
9)	Take the stairs whenever possible instead of elevators and escalators.

Tips for Managing Holiday Stress:
1)	Schedule some down time for yourself to relax and de-stress
2)	Learn some relaxation techniques and use them throughout your stressful days. Yoga, meditation, and deep breathing exercises can be very relaxing.
3)	Include a chair massage for yourself during holiday shopping trips.
4)	Remember to have fun each and every day. Find some humor in every day life. Laughter is a great way to relieve stress.
5)	Try to always keep a positive attitude and surround yourself with happy people.
6)	Try not to focus on money issues every day. If you have made financial mistakes in the past, use it as a learning experience and avoid similar mistakes in the future.

Heart Healthy Holiday Gifts Ideas:
1)	Exercise items like pedometers; resistance bands; exercise mats; exercise balls; jump ropes; heart rate monitors; exercise tapes, videos and DVDs; sneakers, exercise outfits and hand weights, all make great gift ideas.
2)	Heart healthy cookbooks, juicers, and popcorn machines.
3)	Healthy foods: fruit baskets, fruit of the month clubs, assorted unsalted nuts, flavor-infused olive oils, red wines, herbal or green teas, dark chocolates and high fiber baked goods.
4)	Stress relievers: gift certificates for massage or health clubs, aromatherapy candles, pillows, bath salts, Yoga or Tai Chi videos, tapes and books.
5)	Give the gift of your time. Spend time with an elderly relative, neighbor or friend. Offer a ride to the store, pharmacy or doctor’s office to those needing assistance.
6)	Offer to be an exercise buddy to someone starting a new exercise program. It is more fun to work out with a friend and it will benefit both of you!

I've never really bought into the whole one-day-a-year-to-give-thanks thing. It's a nice idea, but. . . well, doesn't giving thanks feel like something one should do a bit more often? Gala and the iCiNG community do this every Thursday, and even though I don't participate on my blog, I like to keep the "Things I Love Thursday" badge on my sidebar to show my support and whatnot. But, since today is both Thanksgiving and a Thursday, I think it's time to run the first ever Fashion-y Blog TILT. It will be body-related and not in list form, but it's a TILT all the same. Can you dig it?

Today I am thankful for my appearance. It sounds vain, I know, and it pretty much is, but let me explain.

This photo is a bit of an older one (hence the bangs and sandals that would allow for frostbite should I wear them now); details on the outfit can be found here.

Over the past few years, I've become a lot more comfortable with my body. I was never one of those girls who stands in front of the mirror for the sole purpose of bashing every body part, but I've definitely had a mental list of my physical "flaws"at any given time - large nose, knobby knees, a non-flat stomach, over-large boobs - but nothing I've ever found particularly horrific. It may seem weird to list those "flaws" here where everyone can look at my photos and critique how I look, but the fact is I've been appreciating these so-called physical imperfections a lot more lately. Large nose? Not such a deformity after all. Gives my face character, I think. Knobby knees? I think I'm the only one who even notices these, to be honest. I am now nonplussed by them. Non-flat stomach? It's not really natural for most women to have flat stomachs. Even with large amounts of exercise I've never been able to achieve this, because it's a tiny curve I'm meant to have. And curves are a pleasing shape, after all. And my boobs? Again, curves are pleasing to the eye. I think I like 'em after all, even if they make bikini shopping quite difficult.

Yes, I feel a little awkward having written about my chest size knowing that classmates, family members, friends, and the like read this, but I'll let it be. Not something to be embarassed about, really. I've been thinking a lot about body image and how it shouldn't be considered vain or taboo to appreciate the way we look in all its uniqueness. Why should it be? Isn't it a much healthier mindset to find the beauty in ourselves and be proud of that than to be vocal about our hated features while keeping quiet about our loved features? I think so. And for that matter, since I'm spewing out random thoughts as it is, I wish compliments could be given more freely in our society. I often compliment strangers on their clothing or accessories, which never fails to elicit a smile and some friendly vibes (if not friendly conversation), but why is it inappropriate to tell a stranger, "Hi, I just wanted to say I think you have the most amazing legs"? Why can't we receive compliments like these without feeling overly scrutinized or hit on? The fact is, we all notice the way people look, albeit not to the same degree we notice our personal appearances, and it would be good for us to be more vocal about this in a positive way when we live in a society full of eating disorders, idolized stick-thin models, and obesity.

For now, I stick to the safe appearance-related compliments when I want to brighten someone else's day. Eyes and hair, folks, eyes and hair.

I would also like to add that, having spent the last 20 minutes or so ranting about body image, I think the preoccupation our society has with physical appearance is kind of ridiculous. Let's also take the time to appreciate the fact that our bodies are the vessels that keep us alive, that they pump blood, take in oxygen, fight illness, allow us to move and think and experience joy, and generally give us everything we have.

That's my long, rambling, tangent-filled TILT. I hope it didn't make me sound disgustingly positive, disgustingly appearance-obsessed, or disgustingly vain.

What do you love and appreciate about your body? It's a great exercise to list your "flaws" and then think of reasons to appreciate them, but I would also love to hear about what you find absolutely gorgeous about yourself. A collection of positive comments always seems to induce extreme happiness (another reason why Miss Gala's site is so fantastic), so let's make it happen. Go forth and comment, anonymously if you so choose, or proudly under your name. I am thankful for this in advance, haha.

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone! Have a good night! And if you want more positive reading material, check out SARK. I'm currently reading her book Succulent Wild Woman (in tandem with Joseph Campbell's fascinating The Power of Myth, which you should also take a look at) and wow is that woman incredible.

I liked. Though I did take a pair of flats (very much required. These shoes are also a bit too big for me, but damned if they're going to my sister too!).

Anyway, the La Senza preview. Walking into the marquee where it was held, my immediate thoughts were "Neon! Everywhere!". Seems that even La Senza (home of pretty and sexy bras) are heading down the Eighties route. After the initial colour shock, I was shown around the marquee. There were some very nice black, red and pink things for Valentine's day, I particularly liked the ruffly black bra with red ruffles.

Of the rest, they had loungewear/pyjamas (in springtime light fresh colours... not particularly different but not offensive), some quite exciting swimwear (they sell it in separates and cup sizes! So I know where I'll be going next time I need a bikini!) and yet more neon. La Senza have also started a jewelry line which I think is out now. I saw a long triple dragonfly necklace which I quite fancied.

All in all, I reckon quite positive. Though maybe less focus on the neon orange next time?

Ashton Kutcher and Demi Moore wore matching outfits as they arrived in London earlier today before walking down the red carpet for Demi's Flawless premiere. Back in the Spring, the actress made the rounds promoting the movie but she's not done yet. In a recent interview she talked about taking such a long break from acting, marrying Ashton, and her supportive family dynamic. Here's more:

On how Bruce, Ashton and her kids are all happy: "Look, nobody goes into a marriage, particularly where you have children, thinking you’re going to end up divorced. So, being a child of divorced parents, I really wanted us to keep a close relationship. And having female children, I feel that the relationship they have with their father will affect every relationship they have with every man in their future. So I really wanted that to be a positive, loving relationship. Because we’re still a family. We’re just a family in a different form. And I’ll tell you, it’s a lot less work than being angry and bitter."

On taking a hiatus in her career: "I just knew my children needed to be grounded. And, really, it was a tremendous gift for myself. I wouldn’t trade what I have with my children, who they are today, for having a bigger paycheck and a bigger career. But, yes, I did take a long period off, at what really would be have been my prime time for leading-lady roles."

On marrying Ashton: "I’m certainly not the first woman to be with a younger man. So, once again, I had to wonder, ‘Is there something about me that seems to be making it such a big deal?’ I can’t answer that. I have no idea."
