Hayden Panettiere hopes to become "Hero" of bags

The Dooney and Bourke spokes-model was given the opportunity of a lifetime to create her dream bag with Peter Dooney. The Hayden Clutch is fashioned from Italian calfskin with a 24 carat gold plated lion head closure, inspired by her astrological sign, Leo. It has a fully lined interior, outside back pocket and is available in black, white, red, royal blue, hot pink and purple. The clutch retails for $295 and is available exclusively at Dooney and Bourke stores nationwide during the month of December.

Uh, generally we laugh at attempts by actresses to 'design' bags but in this case, I have to say not bad! Maybe I'm biased towards Leos but the logo is not totally obtrusive and the fun colors are making me excited for the holidays. I am loving the blue and red and am looking forward to seeing the hot pink. I love the price point as well, $295 is reasonable for Italian calfskin with 24 carat gold plated hardware. I've never been into Dooney and Burke-- too conservative for me; but this collection may just change my mind. What about you, what do you think of the Hayden clutch?

Ever since the Botkier sample sale on Gilt.com a couple months back or so, I’ve took more notice to Botkier handbags. Before the sample sale I had heard of Botkier handbags but never took the time to really check the handbags out. While browsing Nordstrom, I saw this beautiful handbag in one of their ads. You know the ads where it’s just the models’ legs and feet to put emphasis on the handbag she is carrying and the footwear she is wearing. In this particular ad, a pleated style looking satchel was featured and I absolutely adored it. While searching the Nordstrom website for this handbag, it was to my surprise that this stunning handbag was by Botkier and it was called the Layla Pleated Pocket Satchel. The Botkier Layla Pleated Pocket Satchel is a beautiful roomy satchel with protective metal feet and even a front flap pocket. The handbag also features a six inch shoulder strap drop so if you don’t love the satchel like style, you most likely will be able to put the bag on your shoulder too! Also, if you love your handbag to be organized inside, the Botkier Layla Pleated Pocket Satchel features an interior zip, cell phone and PDA pockets, and a key clip.

The Botkier Layla Pleated Pocket Satchel is actually priced at $625, which isn’t that bad these days for a beautiful handbag. Overall, I give this handbag a very high score and if you love satchel’s as much as I do, I’m sure you will love this handbag too!

The DCGF probably *should* be out there scooping up some bargains (like a $39.99 sewing machine - I have a feeling I'm going to be kicking myself about that one later on...) right this very moment, but the pre-Thanksgiving sales were so darn good, who needs more stuff?

Instead, I shall turn my attention toward decorating my space for the holidays still to come. Call me an old-fashioned fuddy-duddy, but I'm a firm believer in waiting until after one holiday is over to start decorating for another. And I'm not big on decorations, really: just a strategically place whimsical curiosity here and there suffices.

I think Jonathon Adler might share my aesthetic preferences. His sleek and chic Saville Ornament Set, at right, evokes bespoke tailoring and impeccable taste...for your Christmas tree, of course. The matte white porcelain set includes pocket watch, brogue (you know, shoe), ye olde key and gentleman's pipe.

Adler recommends gifting them to your sommelier. Yeah. Right. At $98, I recommend you give them to someone close to you, say, your Dad or Grandpa. I don't know about you, by my sommelier ain't getting anything over $20. Ha.

For those of you who grew up in a family that didn't care much for cooking or baking (my mom pretty much uses her new oven to place sorted mail on), the Abc* Gingerbread Cookie Cutters just feel right. Abc in this case means "Already been chewed," and as you can see, these cookies are guaranteed to elicit a chuckle from anyone who experiences their decapitated or limbless bodies. And you definitely have to decorate them with those plaintive frowning faces. Too cute!

The three-cookie-cutter set is in cast aluminum and is only $10(!) from Unica Home online. This would make a memorable host/ess gift or a creative item to throw into the office Secret Santa exchange. Or, you might just buy a set for yourself to be the weirdo with the half-chewed Gingerbread men at the kid's cookie exchange at school. If you are that parent, I applaud you.

The great thing about both of these items is that they can pretty well transcend different holidays. I mean, sure, ornaments traditionally go on a Christmas Tree, and Gingerbread men usually get the red and green treatment, but you could be creative. With a menorah, though, you're definitely celebrating Hannukah. The Zen Menorah, though, is gorgeous enough to incorporate with your modern decor year round.

It uses standard tea lights (the top lifts off so that they can be placed inside) and costs just $29.95 from Spertus Shop online. Is it bad that I almost want this for myself?

Finally, no matter what you celebrate, or if you have no celebrations at all, you still might need some wrapping paper, just in case. And I love Olive Paper because they make wrapping nearly anything so darn easy.

You see, they sell their wrapping products in sets of a la carte. The former include everything you need for wrapping, say, 10 gifts: bags, paper, ribbon, tissue paper, the whole shebang. And the prices are right, with a 10-gift supply costing about $20, including shipping.

One man who clearly understood John Galliano's genius was Bernard Arnault, chairman of the luxury conglomerate LVMH.
