Jada Pinkett Smith refuses to work with husband Will Smith - because she wants to "stay married".

The actress - who lends her voice to new movie Madagascar: Escape 2 the Jungle - believes the couple's relationship would struggle in a professional environment.

She explains, "Will wanted to do Madagascar with me but we decided to stay married.

"I love being in control. I plan on being in control on a film sometime next year as well.

"The family that directs together has to work hard to stay together!"

Believe it or not, just in time for the holidays, I've discovered an actual *new concept* hitting wires.

RedTagCrazy.com is set to be the first "One Deal at A Time" (ODAT) shopping site. It's a sort of social shopping model, that sells one item from one sought-after fashion label at a time, at deep discounts of 50-80%, with each item expected to last only a few minutes. It is like...the ultimate elixir for the impulse shopper!

"We're creating a unique solution for exclusive brands to engage customers, move inventory, and create buzz," said Eric Ingram, Chief Executive of Truly Networks, Inc. "By presenting highly sought-after items with limited quantities for a very limited time, we are vigorously protecting the value of our high-end brands."

He's not kidding. There's no way to tell what will be on sale tomorrow, in the next hour, or even what sold yesterday. Alert tools are available for nearly every desktop and mobile platform out there, from a Firefox Add-on to an iPhone App, which allows shoppers to stay on top of each new item before it sells out.

I'm excited - it's sort of a melding of all my favorite kinds of online shopping, at once. So, tell me, does this sort of impulse-sport shopping appeal to you? Or are you personally a more plan and proceed sort of lot?

Britney Spears will be gracing Glamour magazine in it’s January issue. The pop princess also spoke to the magazine about her life these days, saying she is stronger and more focused than she has been in some time.

GLAMOUR: OK, the VMAs. Three awards, that standing ovation. How did it feel?

Britney Spears: It was awesome. It was really cool.

GLAMOUR: What was going through your head while you were standing onstage?

BS: This whole year has been a hell of a year for me. I have been working so hard on my album, but…I didn’t know exactly where I stood with everyone. When I received the awards and [the audience] stood for me, it showed me how much love is out there.

GLAMOUR: You seemed so confident.

BS: This has been a crazy year for me. I got a lot of strength from it.

GLAMOUR: If you could send a message to your longtime fans who aren’t sure about buying your new CD, what would it be?

BS: Well, I have been working on this album for a while now, so it’s really close to me. I think they will get a taste of where I’m coming from. Hopefully it will be my best work yet.

GLAMOUR: How does it feel to come back?

BS: I have “come back” so many times, people are just like, Is this another one?… It’s kind of like a joke to me now.

GLAMOUR: How are the lyrics on this album different from your earlier songs like “…Baby One More Time”?

BS: I think they’re a bit older because I’ve experienced more. [The album’s] got a cooler vibe.

GLAMOUR: I just heard “Womanizer.”

BS: That’s a really empowering song. There are so many guys who take advantage of girls and play girls all the time. The song is basically saying that we’ve got your number—we know what you’re up to.

GLAMOUR: Describe Circus for us.

BS: It’s really personal, and I think people will feel that when they hear it. It’s me talking to them, instead of just singing a song about something.

GLAMOUR: I’d like to know a little bit about a day in the life of Britney. What’s the first thing you do when you wake up?

BS: I fix breakfast for my kids when they’re here. And then we’ll go for walks. During the day I spend most of the time with my children. At night is when I go to work.

GLAMOUR: What is one of the last things you do at night before you go to bed?

BS: Watch TV. I love Sex and the City.

GLAMOUR: Speaking of kids, do you feel like you have the same body confidence now after having kids?

BS: I’m getting there. Recently I started to appreciate my body a bit more from before I had kids. But it completely changed, and I have had to work hard at getting it back to where it used to be…. I used to be obsessed with working out…. But I can’t get motivated right now because I’m so focused on my music.

GLAMOUR: You shouldn’t feel guilty about not going to the gym every single day.

BS: It isn’t fun [for me], so to do it every day would be horrible. Three days a week is cool, even two. It makes me feel good and feel like I’ve done something. It’s important to take care of your body.

GLAMOUR: What was it like for you when Jamie Lynn [Spears’ sister] had a baby?

BS: It was mind-boggling!

GLAMOUR: Do you have advice for her?

BS: As a mother, the one thing that always goes through your head is, You’re never enough. You never can be enough—or do enough—for your kids. It’s a never-ending issue for me. I had to learn: Don’t beat yourself up so much…. You have to take it one day at a time, do the best that you can and enjoy yourself. I notice that if there are some times I’ve been stressed, because I’m human and stress about things, that affects your kids. So you have to make sure you’re a happy mom so they can be happy.

GLAMOUR: What do you plan to teach your boys about how to treat women?

BS: Hopefully they will respect me by the way I carry myself, and in doing that, they will know how to respect other women.

GLAMOUR: How do you feel about the example you’ve been setting?

BS: We have a nanny in the house, but there are always times when one of my kids does something bad or wrong and they’ll listen to me more than they do the nanny. So I think it’s important to set up that boundary of respect for them at a young age, so they will know, I better listen to Mommy.

GLAMOUR: If there’s one thing that you want them to remember your telling them, what would it be?

BS: That I love them unconditionally.

GLAMOUR: Everyone seems to have an idea of what you are like. What does everybody get wrong about you?

BS: I don’t like going out. I hate clubs. I hate being around too many people. I love my home and staying in bed and watching Dancing With the Stars or reading a Danielle Steel novel. I’m kind of boring.

GLAMOUR: Did you say you’re kind of boring? I think people will be really happy to hear that! How do you envision your life five or 10 years from now?

BS: I would love to have a lot of albums under my belt. And a couple of movies…. In five years I would like to be married and have a father figure for my kids, someone who is a provider and can be really stable. It’s hard doing it on your own.

GLAMOUR: Who understands you most?

BS: Probably my mom. We butt heads the most, but we understand each other the most too. It’s a weird thing.

GLAMOUR: This is appearing in our January issue, and that’s when we all make resolutions. After everything that’s gone on, what will some of yours be?

BS: I would like to stop worrying so much, because I worry all the time. And to learn how to be happier, just in general. I have to learn to take things not so seriously. And to stop biting my nails!… Recording this album has helped take my mind off certain things. For me, my music is therapy.

GLAMOUR: How do you feel about the tradition of New Year’s resolutions?

BS: I end up breaking them. It’s hard.

An Irish friend this weekend mentioned that when she was younger she met several members of the IRA, who were immediately recognisable, she noted for their 'coldness and arrogance'. These two characteristics I suspect, are what you need to make a terrorist. For while millions have grievances, often legitimate grievances, it takes a specific type to turn that grievance into a plan to execute in cold blood civilians on a large scale. The numbers, in fact, are very small, though their impact immense.

On the news the terms 'militant' and 'terrorist' have been used interchangeably. As George Szirtes points out,

People who deliberately focus on civilians are simply murderers. If they do so for a political purpose they are terrorists and murderers. Not militants. Not an army. They are murderers with a vastly inflated opinion of their own honour and righteousness. which also makes them hypocrites.

Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt Elope

The Hills star wed her longtime beau, Spencer Pratt, in a secret ceremony in Cabos San Lucas, Mexico, on Nov. 19, Us Weekly reports in its newest issue (the published date of Thursday, Nov. 20 was misreported). See exclusive photos wedding photos in Us Weekly's new issue, on stands Wednesday.

"The minute we said our vows, I couldn't stop crying," Montag, 22, tells Us.

At the altar, Pratt, 25, told his bride: "Heidi, from the moment you came into my life, I knew my life would never be the same without you. You are the light in my life like the sun to the earth! Your loving warmth makes me want to be a better person. Being with you, I feel complete. I'm honored to even be able to call you my wife. You are the most amazing, loving and caring woman on this planet. I will love you forever and always."

Someone who might not be so thrilled? Montag’s mother.

"I called her right before the ceremony, sort of hinted that something that happened, but her reaction was to ask me if we were breaking up! I told her it might be something else, and she said, 'Well, if you ever plan on getting married just know that your stepdad is really upset that you want your father to walk you down the aisle,'" Montag tells Us.

"She was starting so much drama, it kind of pushed me toward wanting to get married without that," she adds. "I don't know when I'll tell her."

Pratt and Montag have had a tumultuous relationship.

In 2007, Pratt popped the question (after just eight months of dating) with a diamond-encrusted platinum band set with a purple stone that he'd purchased from the mall.

But after bickering over Pratt hitting on women in a club, the pair took a "relationship vacation" just a few months later.

"I'd just turned 21, and it was scary because I was so young," Montag told Us following the split.

(What happened to the bling? "I turned it into a pendant," Montag told Us in December. "It wasn't my dream ring. I don't like what it represents. I might sell it.")

The pair gave it another go in May 2008, after a secret make-or-break getaway to Mexico where "Heidi read me biblical passages like 'Honor thy wife,'" Pratt explained.

By the end, he'd convinced her to plan their wedding again.

"I'm ready to marry Spencer," Montag told Us that month. "He's my soulmate."

Montag was BFFs with Lauren Conrad until early 2007, when Pratt urged Montag to move out of Conrad's apartment and in with him.

Design Process, the Maker Way

Chris Connors over at Make has posted a great piece that those of us without a formal design education may well appreciate, and even those with. Chris was writing in response to PBS’ Design Squad program, from which the image opposite comes, and references the Android G1 phone and iPod iterations as examples of contemporary designs that blur the traditional deadline of ‘project shipping’ into simply another phase of testing and development:

“When your product is sufficiently complete, and you have resolved the most pressing problems determined in the process, it is time to deliver. This does not mean that the project is done forever, instead, it means that it is ready for more testing in a real world environment. As you (and your team, as may be the case) see the product in the world, you will hopefully be looking at it for examples of where it can be changed and improved. As you find aspects of the project that need refinement, you make a plan for revision and implement it. Hopefully these flaws you find at this point are not tragic enough to seriously stall or ruin the project.”

Chris also recently posted a hugely inspiring 10 minute chat with Mitch Altman, recorded at the Austin Maker Faire. I’ve gushed about Altman before, and this clip does nothing but reinforce my view of him as an inspiration amongst open designers!

Mall posts digital mug shots of shoplifters

With the current economic climate, it’s no surprise shoplifting is on the rise - up 9 percent this year to a total of 6 billion dollars in loses. One Staten Island mall has a plan to curb the five-finger deal seekers: public humiliation.

The mall has placed digital bulletin boards throughout the center which rolls the mugs of convicted shoplifters. Nothing like a little embarrassment to cut the crime.
