Christina Aguilera's son locket

Christina Aguilera always wears a locket with a picture of her son.
The 27-year-old singer - who gave birth to Max in January - loves the Stephen Webster locket which husband Jordan Bratman had specially made for her first Mother's Day in May.

Speaking about the exclusive piece of jewellery, which features Max's name, a diamond sword and a blood drop design, she said: "I love the symbolism of the blood droplet. It's like Max pierced my heart."
Christina also revealed the only time she has never worn any jewellery is when she was in labour with Max.

When asked if it is ever inappropriate to don necklaces, earrings, rings or bracelets, Christina replied: "Not appropriate is not something I live by. Probably the only time I did not wear jewellery was when I gave birth to my son, and only then because I was so swollen."

Joan Bennett

Joan Bennett never had any desire to become an actress, she wished only to be a wife and mother. Joan married Jack Fox at the age of 16, became a mother at 17 and was divorced by the time she was 18 years old. In order to support herself and her baby, Joan decided to try acting until something better came along.

Joan went through two phases in her film career. During the thirties, resembling a golden-haired porcelain doll, Joan usually played the innocent ingénue. The most memorable of these roles was her portrayal of Amy in Little Women (1933).

The second phase of her career began with the film Trade Winds (1938) where a new raven-haired Joan appeared. "After that film everyone liked me in dark hair," explained Joan, "so I turned my hair dark and have received much better parts ever since." Many people noted a resemblance between Joan and Hedy Lamarr who would later marry Joan's second husband screenwriter Gene Markey. Joan said, "There must have been something to it because after Trade Winds was released, I was greeted as Miss Lamarr in dimly lit restaurants. Personally, I liked the idea of escaping from all that bland, blonde innocence and thought the whole thing was very funny, but I don't think Hedy found the comparisons very amusing."

Because of her glamorous, new brunette look as well as her exceptional talent, Joan was very seriously considered for the role of Scarlett O'Hara in Gone With The Wind, Joan claimed the part would have been hers had Vivien Leigh stayed in England.

The 1940s and 1950s were the "film noir" decades. It was during the forties that Joan Bennett, alluring and husky voiced, found her niche as a film noir femme fatale. Fritz Lang directed the films which were among the highpoints of her career beginning with Man Hunt (1941) where Joan gave perhaps her most poignant performance as a Cockney prostitute with a heart of gold. The next two Lang films both co-starred Edward G. Robinson and Dan Duryea, The Woman In The Window (1944) and Scarlet Street (1946) where Joan played "Lazy Legs", a character who was obviously lackadaisical and careless to the point of sloppiness in her surroundings but managed to be unquestionably glamorous at the same time. In The Woman In The Window, Edward G. Robinson becomes captivated by a painting of a beautiful woman and once he meets her, she sends him on the road to destruction.

Joan continued this film noir trend in Jean Renoir'sThe Woman on the Beach (1947) where she was a faithless wife deceiving a blind husband. She teamed with Fritz Lang once again in Secret Beyond The Door (1948) a film somewhat reminiscent of Alfred Hitchcock's Rebecca where Joan played a bride terrified of her husband, and like Rebecca the central character of the film is the female star. Joan Bennett carries the film all the way through.

Two of her best films were Ernest Hemingway's The Macomber Affair (1947) again as a devious wife and she gave a multi-faceted portrayal of a blackmail victim of James Mason in The Reckless Moment (1949).

Just one year after giving birth to her daughter Shelley, Joan Bennett became a grandmother at the age of 39 when her eldest daughter Diana became a mother. Marlene Dietrich, consistently referred to as "The World's Most Glamorous Grandmother" sent Joan a telegram saying "Thanks for taking the heat off."

Almost directly from film noir, Joan segued into playing Spencer Tracy's wife and Elizabeth Taylor's mother in the thoroughly charming family comedies Father of the Bride and Father's Little Dividend. It was during this time, that Joan Bennett became involved in a scandal that she once said "destroyed my career in the motion picture industry".

Joan's husband producer Walter Wanger in a blinded, jealous rage shot and wounded her agent Jennings Lang in a parking lot. Wanger went to prison for four months. Lang fortunately recovered and the Wangers eventually divorced in 1965. Joan once said "I might as well have pulled the trigger myself" because after the shooting incident she was virtually blacklisted. Joan made only five films in the decade that followed. Like her sister Constance, Joan turned successfully to the stage.

In addition to the stage, Joan Bennett also found success in television. For five years Joan had a role on the gothic soap opera Dark Shadows which brought a whole new following of fans who remain loyal to this day.

In 1978 Joan married movie critic David Wilde who remained her husband until the end of her life. In December 1990, Joan Bennett passed away at the age of 80. Joan was survived by four daughters, Diana Anderson, Melinda Bena, Stephanie Guest and Shelley Wanger and 13 grandchildren. In her beautifully written book The Bennett Playbill, Joan wrote: "I'm aware of the priceless privilege of having been born into the theater. Although it was a career I rejected at first, the profession has given me an incredibly varied life and more than my fair share of success, failure, love, laughter and despair. I've not a single regret for any of it."

British comedian Ricky Gervais has been nominated for Best Actor in a Motion Picture in the International Press Academy Sattelite Awards.

The star, 47, is up against Sam Rockwell, Josh Brolin, Michael Cera and Brendan Gleeson in the Comedy or Musical category for his role as dentist Bertram Pincus in the 2008 movie Ghost Town.

Director of New Brad Pitt Film Branded 'Abusive'

David Fincher - the director of the new Brad Pitt-starring film The Curious Case of Benjamin Button - has angered cast and crew on-set of the flick with his "abusive" nature, according to tabloid reports.

The film - which is adapted from the 1920s story by F. Scott Fitzgerald - follows a man who is born in his eighties and ages backwards. It stars Pitt as Benjamin Button and Cate Blanchett as Daisy.

But Fincher's imperious ways have done nothing to help the picture, according to the New York Post.

Madonna's Brother to Direct a Movie

Madonna's brother is set to follow in the footsteps of his superstar sibling - by directing a movie.

Christopher Ciccone - who earlier this year released a tell-all book, Life With My Sister Madonna, about the Material Girl - will follow-up the controversial tome by directing his first flick, Twist.

According to New York Post gossip column Page Six, the picture is a gory teen thriller about a serial killer running wild through a coastal California town.

Elton John Gave David Furnish a Lock of His Baby Hair

Elton John's partner David Furnish wears a lock of the star's baby hair for luck.

Furnish, 46, says he keeps the strand in a locket with a picture of the Rocket Man singer as an infant and wears it only on important occasions.

He said, "I have around my neck a little tiny locket and it has a lock of Elton's baby hair and a picture of him as a baby. I wear it for important occasions — when I climbed Mount Kilimanjaro and on airplanes.

"It's a talisman that makes me feel protected, like I've got him with me all the time."

Blake Fielder-Civil: I Introduced Amy to Heroin, Crack and Self-Harm

Now that the husband of Amy Winehouse, Blake Fielder-Civil, is out of prison and into rehab, the former junkie believes it is best for the couple to separate.

He also admitted to being the one who got Amy hooked on drugs.

In a recent interview he confessed,

“I dragged Amy into it and without me there is no doubt that she would never have gone down that road. I ruined something beautiful. Now I have to let her go to save her life. I am not abandoning her. I am doing this out of love.

I have had to live with that for the past year that I have been in prison and I have got so much remorse.

I feel like killing myself. I feel like f***** dying.”

He has admitted that he turned one of the world’s best singer’s into a malnourished, scrawny, full-blown drug addict. He said that Amy only smoked a little weed before they hooked up.

“I made the biggest mistake of my life by taking heroin in front of her. I introduced her to heroin, crack cocaine and self-harming. I feel more than guilty.

The first time Amy took crack she asked me, ‘Can I try a bit of that?’ Crack is the nastiest drug. It makes you paranoid, unreasonable, edgy and totally suspicious of everyone. And you can get hooked on it straight away. But I was weak and an addict and I let Amy take some.

I didn’t stop it from happening. For that I take full responsibility. It became something we did as well as heroin. And then our lives fell apart.”

Blake also revisited the frightening first seizure that Amy suffered during the summer of 2007. He says his wife almost died in front of him.

“I was there when Amy suffered her first seizure. I still break down thinking about it. We had been taking drugs all day long. Heroin and crack.

I started crying and I lay her down in the recovery position. I cleared her airways to make sure she wasn’t choking. But her jaw was closed tight. I tried to stop her from biting her tongue when she was on the floor

It was heartbreaking, seeing someone you love more than yourself, someone you would die for, someone you would kill for on the floor shaking.”

He says when Amy finally came around, she had no idea who he was and was hateful.

“I will go to my grave with that picture of Amy asking me, ‘Who are you? Who are you?’ She didn’t know who I was. I told Amy, ‘I’m your husband’. I knew f***ing then that I had ruined something beautiful. It was all my fault. It was the worst thing that has ever happened to me in my life.”

Blake will be released from the rehabilitation clinic on December 30th, just in time for the new year. But he says that he won’t be spending New Year’s Eve with his wife.

“Now the most dignified thing I can ever do in my life is to release somebody I love from my f***ing grasp, from my clutches.

“When I see pictures of Amy and the state she’s in it tears my heart out. I just want to pick her up and help her. But I can’t..because I’m the man who caused it all. It scares me to death that I can’t fix Amy. But for her recovery I have to leave her alone. I will never stop wanting Amy and loving her and craving her. More than anything I am addicted to Amy.

I will do anything for her - and that includes walking away.”

Here we go, round up of the weekend's fashion articles, reduced down to one small age of links.

Sunday Times, as ever, my first resort, gives us an article about brogues, details about that red Gap Mulberry bag and how to be fashionable in the office. It's also FREEEEEZING here, so I've put in this article about being cosy and chic. I'd also love some of the gloves in this article!!

The Guardian also puts in a fine selection. I particularly like their picture shows this week, wiht one about sequins and one about their top 10 winter buys. Apparently, whilst shoppers are shunning the high street, they're loving the high fashion websites! I also found this interview with Andre 3000 and Celia Birtwell very interesting. For a bit of a laugh, I liked the Observer Women/Grazia awards.

Dear Fashion Kitty, UGG Cardy

I recently purchase some cardigan UGG boots and want to know how is the correct way to wear them. I have folded them over and had the large buttons on the outside but they seem to stick out of the sides too much!

I have been looking on the net and cannot find a picture of anyone in any to see how they wear them. All the advertisements show them rolled down with the large buttons on the outside or folder over with the small buttons on the outside.

I haven't ever tried on a pair of Cardy UGGs so I can't give you a truly informed opinion but I will get you an opinion all the same.

What I recommend is to not fold them over but to scrunch them down instead (like the center photo.) Experiment with them and once you get the look that you like the most, stick with that.

And just for kicks, here are a couple outfits to wear with your UGGs Cardies.

Britney's On Stage and In Our Living Rooms This Weekend

Britney made multiple stops this weekend performing her hit single, "Womanizer." Her first one was at the Bambi Awards which most of you all thought was amazing. She continued on to Paris to perform on Star Academy and then to London for X Factor. Each act was slightly different (check out videos after the jump) and the good news is Britney's confidence is back and she's got a busy week ahead of her. She had a huge smile on stage and even Simon Cowell gave her a standing ovation! Tonight is her MTV documentary which we can't wait to watch. Then Circus drops on Tuesday which is Brit's 27th birthday when she will also stop by Good Morning America. Britney was seen leaving London today to head to NYC for part two of her promotional tour. Will you be watching Britney on MTV and GMA?
