Whatever you do, don't order anything from marciano's online store. It says their customer service is open from 8am - 8pm EST today and I have been calling them since 5pm (it is now 7:45pm) and NO ONE is picking up their phones! On Black Friday! On top of that, I called one of their stores to see if they knew a different number I could call, and the girl gave me an attitude. HORRIBLE. Never buying there again!

The sneakers have been made in collaboration with First Transport and the Transport Recycling In Partnership (TRiP) and are hi-top basketball type shoes with panels of bus seat fabric on the sides. I think they look rather good and you can't immediately tell the fabric comes from a bus seat.
Naomi Campbell decided to shit out a fashion collection this week in Brazil so that the stench wouldn’t hit American shores. The collection from the world’s most violent model is apparently “inspired” by the garments in Naomi’s own closet. The looks are a bit dated with sequins and these monstrous glasses popping up for no reason, but the collection will probably sell ridiculously well cause, fuck it’s Naomi Campbell in Brazil.

Naomi describes the collection as “comfortable, economic, simple and sexy”. Of course, this might be the weakest description of the century, cause unless it’s the equivalent of a pair of Spiderman Underoos on Cameron Diaz in Charlie’s Angels it can’t possibly be comfortable, economic, simple and at the same time sexy.

You know what I think is sexy and all those other things at the same time though is Naomi Campbell picking up trash in NYC. Can she get to chucking cell phones again? I wanna see this bitch work for her status.

For most families, Thanksgiving is a time to reflect on everything you’ve been given, and be grateful for all that you have. This year may be tough for many of us: with the stock market in freefall, millions of Americans are losing money from their retirement accounts and stock portfolios, and crashing home values mean that many of us owe more on our houses than they’re even worth. But no matter how bad things are looking for you this year, there’s always someone who has it worse. So this year, take the time to give thanks for all that’s good in your own life—and to give to others who may not share the same luxuries. Here are ten ways to help the less fortunate this Thanksgiving.

Donate to a nonprofit that helps the hungry. Millions of people can’t afford the food they need to survive, both in the United States and throughout the world. Make a contribution to an organization that will provide food and aid to hungry families, such as the internationally-based Friends of the World Food Program; Feeding America, formerly known as America’s Second Harvest, which works on the national level to help America’s hungry; or your local food bank, which will ensure that the people in your own neighborhood have enough to eat on Thanksgiving day—and every other day of the year. To learn about more great hunger-related organizations you can help, check out our Razoo Giving Guide to World Hunger.

Donate a Thanksgiving basket. Many organizations collect turkeys and all the trimmings to distribute to local families in need. When you do your Turkey Day shopping, pick up extras of everything, and donate them to a local organization like Fairfax, Virginia’s Food for Others, or Los Angeles’ annual Gobble Gobble Give event, which feeds hundreds of homeless people around Echo Park. You can also volunteer to help assemble and deliver the baskets—just check in advance to find out what your local organization needs.

Hold a food drive. Get together with your family, friends, and members of your community to host a food drive, collecting canned goods for your local shelter or food bank. With permission, set up your food drive at your workplace or church, or just outside of the local supermarket. To reach even more people, send out a group email to solicit financial donations for the cause.

Volunteer at a soup kitchen. By helping out at a local soup kitchen, you can give a wonderful holiday to the people who need it most. Call the soup kitchen several weeks in advance to let them know that you’d like to contribute, and offer to do whatever they need help with. Serving food isn’t the only way to help—you may also be enlisted to help pick up donations, prepare food, or clean up after the meal.

Send a phone card or care package to a soldier. Soldiers stationed overseas don’t have the opportunity to come home and spend Thanksgiving with their families, so it’s a tough time of year for them. Help a homesick soldier celebrate the holiday by shipping a care package through a group like Any Soldier or Treats For Troops. If you want to really make it a day to remember, sponsor a phone call home by donating money or an old cell phone through the Cell Phones for Soldiers program.

Hold a Thanksgiving charity bake sale. Not everyone’s a master pie-maker—so use your own culinary skills for good by baking up a few dozen extra pumpkin pies and other assorted goodies to sell in advance of the big day. Donate the proceeds to an organization like Feeding America, which will ensure that the less fortunate will have enough to eat on Thanksgiving and beyond.

Donate to a charity that helps the homeless. While you may be tempted to give a few dollars to the homeless people you see on the streets, your money will make more of a difference when you contribute to an organization dedicated to providing help for those without shelter. Give to a large charity like the National Organization of Homeless Veterans, or a smaller regional group, like your local soup kitchen or homeless shelter. Our Razoo Giving Guide to Homelessness has details on numerous organizations that are helping homeless people to get off the streets.

Deliver Thanksgiving dinners to housebound people. Call your local Meals on Wheels group and offer to drop off turkey dinners to elderly and sick people around your neighborhood. Your visit will make the holiday a meaningful and special occasion to remember.

Visit hospital patients. For sick patients who have no families nearby to visit them, Thanksgiving can be a sad and lonely day. Call your local hospital to find out if there are any patients who’d like some company on the holiday. Patients aren’t permitted to eat non-hospital food, so bring flowers or a small gift instead.

Take part in a charity Turkey Trot or 5K run. Thanksgiving’s generally a time when people pack on the pounds—but joining in a charity run can help you keep fit and contribute to a good cause all at once. Many organizations in cities and towns all over America host Thanksgiving Day runs or "Turkey Trots," typically donating all proceeds to food banks or other local charities. Find your local race and start taking donation pledges for the big day. When the race is over, you’ll know you’ve earned that dinner. Or, if you’re not up to the challenge of running, volunteer to register runners or to pass out refreshments.

Did you hear about the historic, stressed-out new president-elect? The fake one on 24, that is — a helmet-haired lady! Played by Tony winner Cherry Jones, President Allison Taylor steps right into a hot, steamy geopolitical mess on her inauguration day in 24's "Redemption"; the two-hour prequel to season seven airs this Sunday. As Vulture bugged the secrecy-bound Jones for details on the new season (and other stuff), she was driving through the Hollywood hills, racing against time to make an appointment. Almost like a real episode, but without waterboarding or next-generation surveillance tech.

The following took place between 3:30 and 4 p.m. last Friday.

Hi Cherry! How are you?
I’m swell, driving around in my little Prius hoping to find 20th Century Fox studios in time for lunch. I’ve never been before — we don’t shoot at the studio. We shoot in lovely Chatsworth, California, the porn capital of America. I think 24 is the only legit show being filmed there right now.

Do you ever rub shoulders with porn stars at the local Coffee Bean?
I think I rub shoulders with a lot of porn crews, but I have yet to see anyone that seems completely fake from the waist up.

What can you say about President Allison Taylor?
She’s not Hillary. She has nothing to do with Hillary. She’s a combination of Eleanor Roosevelt, Golda Meier, and John Wayne. The day just gets harder and harder and harder. I have to keep girding my loins to survive.

What side of the aisle does she sit on?
They’re so clever on 24. Because you never really know. I certainly have my theories, which I’m not going to share with you.

Would President Taylor see eye to eye with our president-elect?
I absolutely think she would see eye to eye with Obama. I will say that, regardless of my policies, my hair will be read as pure Republican.

You weren’t familiar with the show before you signed on, were you?
I’d never seen it. I knew that it was violent, that there was torture — big negatives for me. But I’d grown up watching the Man From U.N.C.L.E. and Mission Impossible. I loved espionage thrillers.

Once you started watching, did you ever get in a zone where you were watching the show nonstop, round the clock?
Our dogs started putting their paws over their ears when they heard the theme. They were going kind of crazy. I went through a whole period where I would synchronize it with my own clock so that I could watch it in “real time.”

Tell me all about the First Gentleman, Madam President’s husband.
She’s actually very concerned about her husband. Concerned that he is in some way under some stress-caused misconception.

So he’s a crazy paranoid?
Word that in any way that is helpful to you.

What’s the most harrowing 24 hours you’ve experienced in real life?
I was about a mile and a half north of the towers on 9/11 and in my room when the second plane hit. I’ll never forget that first wave of people walking north with that thousand-yard stare that soldiers get. We couldn’t make eye contact. We tried to offer water, cell phones, or anything. I’ll never forget those moments.

You’ve been out of the closet as a lesbian for a very long time and have a partner. Thoughts on Proposition 8?
In another four or five years, the people who voted for it will be really ashamed of themselves. I remember for the first time Bob Dole said “gay marriage” on the Senate floor. Obviously he was against it, but the fact that he said it in my lifetime, I couldn’t believe. I think we’re hurtling toward tremendous change.

Have you and your partner had a commitment ceremony?
No, we have not had a commitment ceremony. I’ve never needed to get married. Marriage, to me, is a religious ceremony between people and their individual faiths. As far as my nation and my sexuality are concerned, I just want the rights of every civil marriage in this country. I have tremendous appreciation for the leaders of this movement.

In the upcoming film adaptation of Doubt, Meryl Streep plays the role you originated (brilliantly!) on Broadway. Variety gave her a crappy review. I know you’ve seen it. Thoughts?
Any day that you’re getting compared to Meryl Streep, you’re in pretty tall cotton. The first time I saw Meryl, I was 21, she was playing Kate in Taming of the Shrew in Central Park with Raúl Juliá. After that, I was basically hers for life. It was thrilling to see her crack this role that I knew backwards and forwards. There were scenes that I thought, Huh. Wonder why she did it that way? That rascal! She's so damn good. I’m going to the premiere, I’ll finally get to hug her and tell her how magnificent she is in it.

The Associated Press
updated 2:05 p.m. CT, Mon., Nov. 17, 2008

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates - Somali pirates hijacked a Saudi supertanker with a cargo of crude oil hundreds of miles out in the Indian Ocean in a dramatic escalation that showed their expanding reach.

It was the largest vessel seized yet in a surge of pirate attacks, and the farthest out to sea that the well-armed fighters, bolstered by millions in past ransoms, have successfully struck. Maritime experts warned that the daylight attack, reported by the U.S. Navy on Monday, was an alarming sign of the difficulty of patrolling a vast stretch of ocean key for oil and other cargo traffic.

The brand-new MV Sirius Star tanker, with a 25-member crew, was seized at about 10 a.m. Saturday more than 450 nautical miles southeast of Mombasa, Kenya, the U.S. Navy said. The area lies far south of the zone where warships have increased their patrols this year in the Gulf of Aden, one of the busiest channels in the world, leading to and from the Suez Canal, and the scene of most past attacks.

The massive supertanker would seem to present a daunting target for the pirates, who usually operate in small speedboats. At 1,080 feet, it's the length of an aircraft carrier, able to carry about 2 million barrels of oil.

But its crew may have had a false sense of security so far from shore, and pirates have repeatedly demonstrated their skill in taking down big prizes.

Aggressive tactics
Details of Saturday's attack were not known, but in past seizures, pirates have used ropes and ladders to climb the hull — and often on large ships, the crew don't notice them until it's too late. On the Sirius Star, the attackers likely would have had to scale about 33 feet from the water to the deck.

It was not clear if the Sirius Star had any armed security on board. In past attacks, alert crews have been able to fend off pirates trying to climb the sides, using water hoses to knock them away. But the pirates are able to strike back: In April, they punched a hole in the side of a Japanese oil tanker with a rocket-propelled grenade in an unsuccessful attempt to capture it.
Pirates have been spreading their attacks in recent weeks southward into a vast area of the Indian Ocean that would be extremely difficult and costly to patrol, maritime security experts said.

"It had been slightly more easy to get it under control in the Gulf of Aden because it is a comparatively smaller area of water which has to be patrolled, but this is huge," said Cyrus Mody, manager of the International Maritime Bureau.

The pirates were taking the captured tanker and crew to an anchorage off the Somali port of Eyl, Lt. Nathan Christensen, a spokesman for the U.S. Navy's 5th Fleet, said. The port on Somalia's northeastern coast has become a pirate haven and a number of ships are already being held there as pirates negotiate ransoms.

Christensen said the Sirius Star was carrying crude, but could not say how much. Fully loaded, the ship's cargo could be worth about $100 million. But the pirates would have no way of selling crude and no way to refine it in Somalia. Instead, they were likely to demand a ransom, as they have in the past.

"It's the largest ship we've seen hijacked and one attacked farthest out on the sea," Christensen said. The capturing of the oil tanker represents a "fundamental shift in the ability of pirates to be able to attack merchant vessels."

Uptick in hijackings
The Sirius Star, which was commissioned in March and is owned by Saudi oil company Aramco, is classed as a Very Large Crude Carrier, the second-largest classification. It was sailing under a Liberian flag and its 25-member crew includes citizens of Croatia, Britain, the Philippines, Poland and Saudi Arabia. A British Foreign Office spokesman said there were at least two British nationals on board.

An operator with Aramco said there was no one available at the company to comment after business hours. Calls went unanswered at Vela international, the Dubai-based marine company that operated the ship for Aramco. Christensen said he had no details on the ship's port of origin and destination.

Pirate attacks off Somalia have surged more than 75 percent this year, hitting freighters, tankers, yachts and fishing vessels. The pirates raised international alarm bells in September when they seized a Ukrainian freighter, the Faina, carrying a cargo of battle tanks and other weapons. The Faina and its 20-member crew are still being held off Somalia, watched by warships to prevent the removal of its cargo.

With most attacks ending with million-dollar payouts, piracy is considered the biggest economy in Somalia, a country that has had no stable government for decades. A report last month by a London-based think tank said pirates have raked in up to $30 million in ransoms this year alone.

'Very strong and very rich'
The pirates are trained fighters, often dressed in military fatigues, using speedboats equipped with satellite phones and GPS equipment. They are typically armed with automatic weapons, anti-tank rockets launchers and various types of grenades. Far out to sea, their speedboats operate from larger motherships.

"Pirates are becoming very strong and very rich, and they are expanding into other parts of the (Indian) ocean beyond the Gulf of Aden," said Nour Mohammed Saeed, a former fisheries minister in the Puntland region of northern Somalia. "They are getting a lot of money and they know that they can make more."

The seizure of the Faina and its cargo of weapons prompted a reinforcement of warships patrolling the waters off Somalia. Along with a Russian frigate and Indian vessels, a NATO flotilla of seven ships is in the Gulf of Aden to help the U.S. 5th Fleet in anti-piracy patrols and to escort cargo vessels. The 5th Fleet said it has repelled about two dozen pirate attacks since Aug. 22 in the gulf.

Another multinational fleet currently led by the Dutch has carved out a protected lane through the Gulf of Aden, through which 20,000 tankers, freighters and merchant vessels transit every year, entering and exiting the Suez Canal.

But other ships — including ones too big for the canal like the Sirius Star — pass off East Africa to circle the continent by the Cape of Good Hope.

The expansion of attacks signals they too could be vulnerable.

"There will never be enough warships," said Graeme Gibbon Brooks, the managing director of British company Dryad Maritime Intelligence Service Ltd. "The whole area is 2.5 million square miles ... the coalition have to act preemptively and be one step ahead of the pirates."

It’s basically Blackberry’s response to the iPhone.

Press and be impressed with a touch screen, and other new features that make it ‘the’ cutting edge way to dial up. The Storm stacks up against the iPhone in terms of call quality, data coverage, price and more.

The ground breaking part of this phone is how the ClickThrough touch screen acts like one big button. Yes, the screen is a giant button, one you have to click for basically every action which completely breaks the touchscreen paradigm.

The other phone worth phoning home about is pricey!!! Diorphone is inlaid with 640 Swarovski crystals and costs $26,000 USD. But man it’s pretty.
