The super funny Amy Sedaris has just signed a deal to create, write and star in a comedy series project that will be produced by 20th Century Fox TV.

It will be co-produced by David Letterman's Worldwide Pants.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the comedienne and her writing partner, Strangers With Candy alum Paul Dinello, are "fleshing out" the premise for the show, which is based on an idea Sedaris came up with about six years ago.

While the show will be scripted, there will be room for her to showcase her improv skills.

So we're expecting a load of laughs!

Sedaris said, "It just seemed the right time to do it now."

Amy and crew still need to sell the networks on her show, so who knows when we will finally see it on air.

Congrats, though!

The Muppets will no longer be for the kiddies.

The Jim Henson Co. has just picked up a script - starring the furry creatures - targeting an adult audience.

The movie, currently titled The Happytime Murders, is a mystery flick that will be made by the company's Henson Alternative deparment, which is a division of Henson's that basically develops projects not for kids.

Set on board to direct is Brian Henson, co-CEO of Jim Henson Co, and one of the late Jim Henson's sons. As for the script, it was written by Todd Berger.

Though this isn't the first 'adult' film Henson makes. Back in 1982 the company made The Dark Crystal, "which featured a dark tone and, in one scene, nudity."

As for The Happytime Murders , it takes place in a special type of world where humans co-exist with puppets.

However, the puppets are viewed as second-class citizens.

And then, when members of the famous '80s The Happytime Gang start to get murdered one by one, "a disgraced puppet LAPD detective turned private eye — with a drinking problem, no less — takes on the case."

Sounds sort of like Who Framed Roger Rabbit doesn't it?

The movie is being described as also having a comedy side to it, sort of like Broadway's Avenue Q.

Sounds interesting!

Will U go watch The Happytime Murders ?

This time it’s 50 Cent…

New York, NY (October 15, 2008) – 50 Cent (aka Curtis Jackson) was the top earning rapper in 2007, earning an astonishing $150 million, according to Forbes magazine. He parlayed a stake in Vitamin Water to a 9-figure payout and he continues to be the single savviest businessman in the music game. As he puts it, “If I was just my image, I wouldn’t have made this much money.” 50 Cent’s success is nothing less than the American dream and this show is his coming out party as an inspiration to a new generation of street-savvy entrepreneurs. His forthcoming book, “The 50th Law,” co-authored with Robert Greene (”The 48 Laws of Power”), will share the lessons he learned as a street hustler and how those lessons allowed him to become the massive success he is today. In “50 Cent: The Money and the Power,” hosted by and starring 50 Cent, he will share these lessons with a lucky few. The winner, the young man or woman whose ideas and drive make them worthy of 50’s support, receives a $100,000 investment from 50 Cent himself. “50 Cent: “The Money and the Power” will premiere on MTV on Thursday, November 6th at 10pm ET/PT.

“50 Cent: The Money and the Power” contestants worked together while also living at “Camp Curtis,” a Brooklyn warehouse where they slept in tents named after the five boroughs of New York City. The 14 wannabe moguls, personally hand-picked by 50 Cent, compete in inventive challenges that 50 Cent helped to create, while mastering the skills that took the rapper from his hard-knock life to the top of corporate America. Each week, 50 Cent will narrow down his search by testing the candidates on the knowledge he has taught them while pushing them to their limit. Viewers will be treated to special appearances by LL Cool J, Aubrey O’Day of Danity Kane, Lloyd Banks and radio personality and blogger Miss Info. And since no business mogul can work alone, 50 Cent recruited his G-Unit label mate Tony Yayo to be his “Underboss” and right hand man. Yayo kept contestants in line for 50 Cent throughout series.

Ultimately, the last individual standing will, in 50’s eyes, possess the strongest combination of business flair, strength, ambition, and fearlessness to win the $100,000 and help achieve their dream and pave the way to future mogul status. “50 Cent: The Money and the Power” was mostly shot in New York City (in and around Brooklyn, Bronx, Queens, etc…) and will have ten one hour episodes.

In addition to his record label, G-Unit Records, 50 Cent has enjoyed enormous global success across a vast array of entrepreneurial ventures, including videogames, books, clothing, footwear, beverages, personal care products, automotive and more. 50 Cent is set to deliver his fourth major label album, Before I Self Destruct (Shady/Aftermath/Interscope), on December 9, 2008. Accompanying the album is the gritty feature length film, Before I Self Destruct, which 50 Cent wrote, directed and starred in.

“50 Cent: The Money and the Power” is Executive Produced by 50 Cent. Michael Hirschorn, Stella Stolper and Michael Bloom of Ish Entertainment are Executive Producers. Sacha Jenkins and Gabe Alverez are Co-Executive Producers. Chris Lighty and Laurie Dobbins of Violator are Co-Executive Producers. Bruce Klassen is Supervising Producer. Tony DiSanto, Liz Gateley and George McTeague are creative executives overseeing project for MTV. “50 Cent: The Money and the Power” is produced by MTV and Ish Entertainment.

Fashion Week may have finally been put to sleep (I'm not mad). The viability of a Los Angeles Fashion Week was again brought into question when IMG announced that it was pulling out of its 5 year-old partnership with Smashbox Studios to produce the event.

Critics are not surprised since there were no recognizable designers on this season's calendar. Davis Factor who co-owns Smashbox Cosmetics along with his brother Dean, when asked if the event will continue was quoted as saying, "Honestly, I just don't know... It's too soon to tell."

Now if they only would get rid of Baltimore's Fashion Week. Come on, Baltimore!?

“Visibly Smoothing & Renewing Moisturizer SPF 15 Sunscreen Cream”

I recently got a sample for the Lancome Primordiale Skin Recharge Moisturizer. Not thinking much of it, I used the larger-than-normal sample right away, instead of leaving it and eventually forgetting about it. It lasted me almost a week of daily use, and let me tell you I fell in love right away!

The moisturizer smelled delicious and made my skin look and feel smooth and rejuvenated. It is has a tangy freshness to it; citrus fruits and white flowers compliment the anti-aging cream.

I normally don’t buy or use anti-aging products and really didn’t know it was one until I was researching it for this story. This moisturizer is ideal for treating the first signs of aging, so I guess I am a good candidate!

This product was developed to battle the first signs of aging; when the cellular activity slows down, resulting in rough, uneven skin texture and enlarged pores.

Primordiale Skin Recharge contains biotin, a powerful energetic co-enzyme. This ingredient helps to ‘recharge’ cells deep within the surface of the skin. These revitalized new cells rise to the surface, thus approving the appearance of healthy and radiant looking skin.

This luxurious cream also contains a unique complex of gentle’ resurfacers’ which helps aide skin turnover rate. It also helps minimize the look of large pores and fine lines.

In 3 days of regular use, you are meant to see the minimizing of pores and a healthier glow to your skin. After 4 days of use your skin should feel revitalized and have a refined texture.

I am definitely sold by using the sample for one-week, and am going out to purchase this product. It retails for $64, and the night cream for $66. More than I would usually spend on a facial product, but well worth it!

Academy award winning actress, Reese Witherspoon, graces the cover of Vogue for their November issue. In the feature article, she talks about many things including her recent divorce, her roles and her charity work.

The photo shoot and interview took place in Paris. Witherspoon is enchanted with the city, people and the views. In the article she says “You know, the older I get—and I can only count on one hand the times I’ve been to Paris—I’m starting to feel like I understand the place a little better,” she says. “The people just love the city, and I can really see what they love about it.”

She also talks about her new movie, ‘Four Christmases’, in which she co-stars along Vince Vaughn. In this excerpt she talks about the plot: “It’s a comedy about a young San Francisco couple who think of themselves as together, modern, and protected from the baggage of family traditions. “They have their own theology in life,” says Reese. “They work very hard. They live well. They eat at nice restaurants. They have all the modern amenities. They have every new technology you could have.” And they swear by one rule: Never go back home.”

She recalls another trip that brought her to Paris in 2005 to find an Oscar dress. She was looking for a vintage piece. She ended up leaving with a vintage Christian Dior dress made in 1957 for a princess. It wasn’t for sale, but eventually the dressmaker let her have it. To this day, Witherspoon cherishes the dress and will never sell or auction it off. In an excerpt she says: “It fit perfectly. I mean, like, it couldn’t have been more amazing,” she remembers, “and Nunzio is there and he’s talking in French and finally the man said, ‘You can have it.’ She wore it to the Oscars. She won an Oscar. “I don’t mean to sound hokey pokey, but the dress has energy in it,” she says. She will keep it forever. “My accountant got wind of the bill, and he called me and said, ‘Um, don’t you think you should auction this off?’ And I’m like, ‘Are you kidding me?’ I will never ever ever ever ever sell it. I never thought I’d have a dress like that.”

That was the year she won for her portrayal of June Carter in ‘Walk the Line’. She goes on and raves more about the dress (pictured below) in this excerpt: “And then the dress,” Reese says. “I mean, let’s talk about this dress again—it was made in 1957, which was the year the single ‘I Walk the Line’ came out. I’m pretty sure it’s the year the single came out, or maybe it was after ‘I Walk the Line.’ How does it go?”

Witherspoon talks about her ex-husband Ryan Phillippe in this excerpt and her interest in taking the role in ‘Four Christmases’: She recently finalized her divorce from Ryan Phillippe, whom she met during the filming of Cruel Intentions in 1999. “There are so many dynamics that people deal with all the time, and you don’t really see it in movies very much,” Reese says. “You don’t see the blended-family Christmas very much. And it really is a complication in a lot of people’s lives now. How do you see your mother and your father and not hurt anyone’s feelings? You know, I didn’t grow up like that. I mean, my parents are still married, and my grandparents stayed married, but it’s a situation my own children will have to deal with, so it was of interest to me.”

Along with her work for the Children’s Defense Fund, she is also the first-ever Avon Global Ambassador. Both, she says addresses women’s right. An excerpt from the article explains her charity roles: “In the case of Avon, she’s supporting an entrepreneurial version of micro-loans for women building financial networks around the globe—”whether it’s a woman in Texas getting a college education because she got the money to cover a baby-sitter while she goes to school,” she says, “or a woman in a village in Africa who has surpassed all expectations by creating a little network of salespeople within her community. The more work I’ve done with children around the world, the more I realize the way to help them is by empowering women, creating financial opportunities, and that’s something Avon is very dedicated to.”

Unfortunately, she talks very little about her current boyfriend, Jake Gyllenhaal, keeping some things in her life private. Kudos to that!

Now that the fall season is well-underway, our favorite stars are embracing the change of season with some autumn activities. And from the looks of it, Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt had a blast yesterday on their trip to the Pumpkin Patch.

The “Hills” co-star couple was on a mission to find some perfect pumpkins, though it seems Spencer found himself at the mercy of his girlfriend as he ended up in the stocks.

Again With the Trickle Down!?!
by Jared Bernstein

If your only tool is a hammer, everything looks like a nail. That's what came to mind this AM when I read that John McCain's plan to address the ailing economy includes a big cut in the capital gains tax rate, from 15% to 7.5% for the next two years.

How wrongheaded is this? Let me count the ways.

First, the McCain folks may have missed this, but asset values have been falling, big time. Remember, John?... That whole financial mess that folks have been talking about? When capital assets, like stocks or bonds, lose value, that's a capital loss, and it's already deductible from your taxes.

OK, but there's probably a few folks out there who've realized some capital gains, or will do so at some point in the next couple of years. What's the point of giving them a tax break? What itch does that scratch?

The vast majority of realized capital gains--that's the money you make, for example, when you sell a stock for more than you paid for it--go the richest families, so they're the ones who benefit from this. The good number crunchers at the Tax Policy Center examined who would benefit from the McCain proposal. The middle fifth of families end up with all of 0.2% of the benefits. That's not a typo. The tax break would lower their annual tax bill by $4.00. OK, that is a gallon of gas, but it's not what you'd call a game-changer.

The top 20% end up with 98.3% of the benefits of the cut, and the top 1%, with income above $600,000 get 75% of the gains, for an average benefit of $37,600. The average tax savings for the top 0.1%--income above $3 mil--is $244,000. In other words, this isn't a recipe for helping families hurt by the financial crisis and the recession. It's a recipe for more income inequality.

So why do it...why cut the rate? You guessed it: good old trickle down. It's yet another example of that supply-side fairy dust that worked so well for Bush that McCain and Co. want to see the Bushies and raise them.

If cutting taxes for the wealthiest households boosted job creation, we'd know it. The Bush cuts, originally opposed by John McCain by the way, were sold on this premise. Yet before we began to shed jobs this year, employment growth in the Bush years was the worst on record.

If you want to provide income and job opportunities to people who are hurting, your best bet is to do so directly, through tax cuts targeted at them, and through infrastructure investment designed to create new, quality jobs. That's what Obama aims for in his recently announced package.

Finally, and this is important, does anyone really believe that this allegedly temporary cut will really sunset in two years? Like Dr. Phil says, "this ain't my first rodeo!" That's the tripwire in the Bush cuts. They end in 2011, but anyone who wants to let them do so is accused of supporting the "largest tax increase in history."

If we're foolish enough to sign onto this cut in the capital gains tax rate based on our understanding that the rate will reset in two years...well, as Bush himself put it, "fool me once, shame on...shame on you. Fool me...you can't get fooled again." In fact, here's a quote from a straight-talking Republican Senator back in 2003 when he opposed Bush's capital gain and dividend tax cuts based on these illusory sunsets: "...the problem with that is it's gimmickry. It makes a mockery out of the whole budgetary process..." Listen to yourself, Senator McCain.

So we are yet again left with John McCain getting it wrong on economic policy. There is absolutely a need to help struggling families right now, but if this is the best he can come up with, we'd all be much better off if he put the hammer back in the tool shed and left the policy construction to others.

Photo: AFP

We were a little surprised to read in Michael Riedel's column this morning of an upcoming Broadway production of Samuel Beckett's Waiting for Godot, possibly starring Nathan Lane (as Estragon) and Bill Irwin (as Vladimir). "The revival will slip in just under the wire of the April 30 Tony Award cutoff date, setting the stage for what could be a fiercely contested race for Best Actor in a Play," Riedel explains. Makes sense, we guess, but just yesterday Playbill reported a cancellation of the pre-Broadway run of Godot in Seattle, with a spokesman for the Seattle Repertory Theatre saying that a commercial partner "decided not to go forward with a New York production of Godot and with the loss of this co-producer, plans for a Seattle to Broadway transfer were abandoned."

So, is Riedel wrong? We kind of doubt it — he may mix up Bon Jovi and Bono, but the man knows his Nathan Lane. Is the Tony-winning actor enough of a draw to attract a backer and just skip the Seattle run? Is Bill Irwin, after his brilliant turn in Rachel Getting Married? We don't know! But Riedel seems pretty confident: "What fun it will be to watch him swap insults with Irwin, culminating in the cutting insult — 'Critic!' … I think it's safe to say that the Tony nomination he didn't get this year will come his way in 2009." Still, it's not certain. No, nothing is certain.
