Still buzzing from the Election night festivities, a packed house of fashion types managed to buzz about something else…the most wanted gift picks in a mean economy.

The diverse assortment of companies with their wares on display served up something for everyone.

But we zeroed in on a few that spans the desired spectrum at all price points.

CALLAWAY GOLF:

Tucked away in a corner…the display of women’s of clubs from Callaway Golf had our hearts palpitating, as we are HUGE golfers.

Bummer we couldn’t demo anything but the putter… yet we still loved the feel of the technologically advanced FT (Fusion Technology) Irons, and the all titanium head Big Bertha Driver that’s the first driver designed specifically for a women’s game.

BRAVO:

The Callaway Golf Foundation Women’s Cancer Initiative Foundation-aimed at raising awareness and funds for ovarian cancer – has introduced a limited edition (1000 - signed!) teal version of the FT-I Driver ($399).

As noted on Callaway’s website, this driver is “…designed to be the world’s straightest driver” that is forgiving of shots hit allover the club’s face. The physics behind it all is complicated…but trust us, clubs make the difference in the score of one’s games. Plus that 19th Hole is just so much FUN.

Spokeswoman actress Halle Berry is the 2008 ambassador of this worthy cause.

THE ART OF SHAVING:

Any guy-from Joe the Misinformed Plumber to Mr. Metrosexual will be very happy to see a black box containing anything from The Art of Shaving (like a Tiffany Blue Box).

This collection of luxuriously scented diffusers beckoned us from across the room. Seriously

We are naturally picky about aromas and feel so many American products are so yucky artificially enhanced…we might as well be sniffing some toxic chemical brew.

What a delight to discover HILLHOUSE NATURALS- a Kentucky based home fragrance company that was founded by mother/daughter farmers… and has gradually blossomed into an enterprising business that employs the locals.

Heart warming stories aside, the quality of the products and elegance of the festive packaging of the Holiday Living Green Collection of diffusers and natural soy candles ($12-$42)- is what gets to us. We inhaled the essential oils’ laden Spiced Pear (Cinnamon and Clove Leaves)…and we were instantly calmed and revived.

Other scents available are Balsam Wreath (Fir Balsam, Orange Oil) and Cinnabark (Cedarwood, Cinnamon Bark, Olibanum Resin).

We are impressed. Plus an entire assortment of well-priced body creams and cleansers, sachets, parfum, and laundry soaps are available too.

As the downpour continues on this oh-so dreary day in New York, Beauty Junkie decided to ride out the storm with a pleasantly fragrant twist. We love a woodsy androgynous scent any day and thanks to Kiehl’s Since 1851, we’ve found our latest obsession—Forest Rain. There’s a touch of wet grass smell that dries down to a cedarwood/vetiver/musk mix. It’s perfect for snuggling up by the fire on the cold days to come.

Jennifer Lopez launches her new fragrance ‘Deseo For Men’ at Macy’s Herald Square in New York City on Monday.

New Stuff from Mod Skin Labs

You all know how much I love Mod Skin Labs. I wrote about their Face Sculpt Serum back in January and have been using it religiously ever since. They just came out with a brand new candle to add to their line and it's pretty darn amazing. Since I have been traveling more I have realized the importance of a good candle. When you are in a room that stinks like hell (hello my Vegas hotel room that reeked of smoke) you start craving candles.

Anyways I tested out their new candle and I love it!

Not only does the candle smells amazing but it looks amazing too. I always find that candles that smell great come in some hokey glass jar that is embarrassing to set out. This candle isn't going to embarrass me one bit -- it's gorgeous.

I am no whiz at describing scents so I will leave it up Mod Skin Labs for that one ...

Again, I am no scent wizard but I love the smell of blood orange and I think that is what really makes this candle perfect for me. Getting Scentimental: 5 Glam Perfumes

I had to wait 30 mins for passport photos today (what's with that!) so of course I spent the time (wisely) at Sephora. I had an enthusiastic assistant who danced ahead of me, spraying fragrances on those little scent sticks and making sample sprays of the ones I liked especially.

I'm very picky about scents to begin with and I absolutely have to live with a perfume for a day or two before I know if it's "me", plus my skin tends to turn every fragrance sweeter after the first half hour.

Viktor & Rolf 'Flowerbomb' is my staple right now, but I like to wear different perfumes depending on my mood (and my activities on a given day), so one perfume at a time will not do. Here are the 5 perfumes I liked best:

Burberry The Beat is a vibrant, preppy scent that exudes youthful self-confidence. This would be perfect for those go-go-go days when there's a million things to do — just wearing it would give me energy I think. It's a city scent that's at once modern and clean as well as having a warm, sunny edge.

Notes:
Bergamot, Cardamom, Pink Pepper, Mandarin, Bluebell,
Iris, Ceylon Tea, White Musk, Vetiver, Cedarwood.

Escada Moon Sparkle is an exciting, gorgeous scent. At first I thought, "why did they name it sparkle, how dorky", but the scent really is sparkly in the sense that it is new, unexpected, happy, and magical all wrapped into one. It's charismatic and sensuous without being overbearing; a complex joyful scent. (Yeah, you can tell, I loved it).

Notes:
Strawberry, Blackcurrant, Citrus Cocktail, Raspberry, Red Apple, Rose,
Sweet Pea, Freesia, Jasmine, Musky Notes, Sandalwood, Dry Amber.

Masaki/Masaki by Masakï Matsushïma is an elegant, refined perfume. Subtly alluring, it whispers sophistication. If you could mix the breeze off Mt. Fuji with the fall of leaves in Paris, that would be this perfume. This perfume is so chic I don't know that I could pull it off without being dressed in an haute couture gown. Some day, I want to be the woman whose signature scent this is.

Litchi, Fuji Apple, Magnolia, Watermelon, Sakura, Angel Face Rose,
Passion Fruit, Raspberry, Patchouli, Crystal Musk, White Cedar Wood.

Kenzo Peace Vintage Edition is their 20th Anniversary celebration perfume. If a perfume can smell of a color, then this embodies purple. It's like a soft summer night with a sense of mystery: a warm, comfortable and sultry scent, without being overpowering.

Notes:
Tonka Bean, Vanilla, Heliotrope Flower, Mandarin, Cedar Wood, Musk.

Versace Versace is a ladylike tender floral perfume, surprisingly soft and elegant compared to other Versace perfumes which, though I love, often pack a lot of punch. This one made me wish I were a bride, it fairly murmurs of silks and satins and champagne.

Notes:
Living Dew Drops, Icy Black Currant, Purple Wisteria, White Lilac, Lotus Flower, Living Orchid, Angel White Jasmine, White Lights Azalea, Snowbird Azalea, Musks, Cedar, Cashmirwood, Amberwoods.

Put these on your shortlist for perfumes to sniff next time you're out and about. If you live where trying is impossible and you have to order blind, I'd say if you like preppy go for the Burberry, if you like fruity/happy go for the
Escada, if you like sophisticated, go for the Masakï.

Ed Hardy Launches Love & Luck

Tattoo guru Ed Hardy is all set to introduce a duo of fragrance called Love & Luck in December of this year. The line of fragrance will be sure to appeal with its striking visual packaging and sensual Japanese tastes.

Love & Luck for Women is soft and elegant with a signature note of cherry blossom. There are also notes of bergamot, blood orange, plum, heart of black currant, pink peppercorn, jasmine petals, musk, cedarwood, sandalwood and patchouli. This combination is sure to create a soft and sensual scent.

Love & Luck for Men is said to have been inspired by Tokyo’s nightlife. With notes of bergamot, orange, mandarin, sage, cypress, violet, cedarwood, and sandalwood, this scent is bright and eclectic.

What is really interesting, and characteristic of Hardy’s edge, is that both the men’s and women’s fragrance have notes of alcohol in them: Red Sake in the women’s and Heart of Absinthe in the men’s.

Ed Hardy has teamed up with designer Christian Audigier once again, as well as Giraudan to make another successful duo of fragrances. These fragrances will be available near in December this year and will be retailing for $55 USD (1.7 oz) and $75 USD (3.4 oz) with matching body products.
