We headed down to a studio in East London on Friday to catch the Diesel U: Music Radio show, with a couple of our lucky competition winners. The first time a radio station has been set up by a fashion label, and run by the producers of Radio One, the sessions began in September in the 30-day run up to the Diesel xXx party we covered yesterday. On this occasion up-and-coming artists Get Cape, Wear Cape, Fly and Ebony Bones turned up to soak up the house-party atmosphere and belt out some tunes, with the results being broadcast live into every Diesel store around the world. As we saw yesterday, Diesel doesn't do things by halves...

Lemaire, the side project of Lacoste creative director Christopher Lemaire, drew inspiration from the Far East for his current fall collection, constructing winter coats and jackets with the silhouettes of South Asian garments like kramas (scarf) and kurtas (tunic).

The women have pleated high-waisted pants and their own winterwear, including a convertible cape, a kimono trench coat, a leather jacket, and those shawl collars that are all over the place this season.

Browse: See the lookbook at christopherlemaire.com.

–

Lacoste Fall/Winter 2008: And for his regular duties, Lemaire carried that muted palette carried over for part of Lacoste’s fall 2008 ready-to-wear line, staged in February of this year on a sheepskin (!) runway in New York.

Inspired by Megève, the Alpine resort popularized in the 1920s by the Baronne Noémie de Rothschild (who was fed up with the crowding at St. Moritz). Lemaire began with some snow performance looks in greys and slates…

…followed up with earthy colors that bring pop to otherwise standard cuts of polos, cardigans, and slacks…

…and of course, since this is Lemaire’s intepretation of the classic tennis brand, rounded out with a venture into the whimsical. This winter, he makes good use of purple, pom-poms, and for the ladies, some out-of-this-world puffy boots.

There’s nothing like a spot of internet shopping; all the pleasures of a spree from the comfort of your own home. However as a big fan of an online splurge I was beginning to exhaust all my regular online boutiques and found myself on the hunt for some alternative internet delights. On turning my attention stateside I came across Pixie Market and to my delight I also discovered that they ship to the UK, hooray!

A little bit like a US version of our online fave <a href="http://www.asos.com" target=blank">ASOS, <a href="http://www.pixiemarket.com" target=blank">Pixie Market offers affordable fashion from some of the Americas up and coming designers. With a massive range of <a href="http://www.myfashionlife.com/tag/dresses/" target=blank">dresses, <a href="http://www.myfashionlife.com/tag/coats/" target=blank">coats and <a href="http://www.myfashionlife.com/tag/shoes/" target=blank">shoes there is something for everyone. Many of the designs are bang on trend for this autumn/winter with sequins, visible zips, plaid and capes, amongst other style statements prominent across the range on offer. The influence of current American trends however also render the designs distinctive.

A few of the stand out pieces for me include the patent loafers by poly, the triangle dress with visible zip designed by Djuna Paris and the to-die-for cape by Richard Ruiz, all pictured. There is much more to see though so get yourself a currency converter and click your way to <a href="http://www.pixiemarket.com" target=blank">Pixie Market.

Turning 40 was not a big deal for
Debra Messing, but her 4 ½-year-old son
Roman Walkerviewed the big day quite differently. During a recent appearance on
The Late Show with David Letterman, Debra recalled that she had been enjoying a "low-key" birthday, with no real plans to celebrate, when she went to pick Roman up from a gymnasium he had been visiting with his preschool class. When everyone she encountered went out of their way to wish her a Happy 40th Birthday, Debra said she was intrigued -- and more than a little confused!

"Apparently my son, when he walked in, said to every single person he met 'Today's my mommy's birthday! It's a big one! It's 40!'"

Her family -- which includes husband
Daniel Zelman-- recently relocated to New York, and the move has been a happy one for Roman who "loves animals" and "just wants to go straight to the zoo," Debra told
Live with Regis and Kelly. She also revealed that the couple were looking for a "strong" name when they decided upon Roman. "Even before we were talking about getting pregnant we were just walking around Cape Cod, talking about 'If we ever...' and that was just a name that popped up into my head, and it survived," Debra shared.

Debra's new original series

 The Starter Wife
airs Friday at 9 p.m. on USA.

I recently attended the ENK International - Children's Club Show in NYC, which focuses primarily on children's fashions and accessories. Such a dizzying array of bold colors and patterns! I'll be doing a series of posts on cool clothes and items that I saw there.

Kalencom of New Orleans has the most beautiful diaper bags in their Eleanor Design line. Created by animal illustrator Eleanor Grosch, these amazing looking bags retail for $90. You can also get matching Eleanor accessories (bibs, towels, blankets..) and layette items from their Snugtime/Banana Hannah line. Go to Kalencom.com for more information

I'm a big fan of Bodemi, headed up by designer Boren Lon and her partners Mimi Poon and Deborah Bernat. I flipped over their "I Am My Own Hero Capes". They're 100% cotton, customizable capes. Choose your child's initial, cape color and trim. They retail for around $49, but will last a long time (and comes with a cute little elastic backed mask). Bodemi is known for their lovely dresses, the two pictured would be perfect for the winter holidays. You'll be seeing these on their website soon. I also love their cotton belts ($15) from their Tadago Line with a velcro closure for kids. Also check out their adorable cotton totes (that can serve as a diaper bag), diaper pouches, changing pads, and bibs -- all made of super-soft cotton.. Go to Bodemi.com for more information.

Check back for more posts on ENK - Children's Club. We'll be showing the latest from pediped, Mullins Square, Wonder Threads, Moby Wrap & much more!

I am loving the SS09 Chanel collection. There is something quirky, modern and refreshing about it, that is still very Chanel (of course!).
The reinterpreted plaid pattern is a refreshing twist on the classic Chanel prints. The technique involved in creating some of the structures (i.e. above right), is also modern and chic.
The evening wear were divine. I love the more relaxed silhouette throughout the collection- much more forgiving for all body types. The black dress here (left) is actually one of my favourites. The upper part, with the sheer fabric makes it modest yet subtly provocative at the same time- very classy and elegant. The white dress (right) is admittdely not the most flattering shape on the runway, but there is just something very intriguing about the play on volume and the delicate floral details here.
Then there were beautiful tiered tulle dresses fit for a fairy princess. Ok, the cape (left) is a bit too much with that dress, but the bolero (also a hot item on this runway) is the perfect compliment to the heavily tiered dress on the right.
Onto accessories- see what I mean by quirky, with this vertical classic flap bag (left)? The leather shopping bag (right), is perfect and very clever for the whole "street" theme of the show, but I hope they're not planning to sell it in stores. Otherwise some misguided soul might just buy it and become a walking advertisement- and not even the good kind!
It appears that the peep toe bootie (left) is definitely here to stay for another season or two.... I guess I better get used to it. It doesn't look too weird here. And the feathers here (right) creates just the perfect dramatic effect for the runway, but they're definitely not suitable for rainy/muddy/humid weather. Luckily, the shoes look gorgeous without the feathers as well, and I'm sure Karl will be commercial minded enough to produce them without the feathers for the stores (or maybe they will be attachable!).

One thing I'm unsure about though are the two tone stockings featured throughout the show. It looks a bit like Karl is trying to put a new spin on the much over done legging trend, but I don't know, the spin is not that new and it cuts the model's legs off in an unflattering way, making them look short. The stockings on his F/W 08 runway is way better.
