New York Purchases (so far...)
2008-01-14 14:18:35 by Ali in Make A Heart

I am loving New York! This weekend we found some flea markets to explore, which I was very excited about because we don't really have any good, regular flea markets in Sydney. And I love a good flea market.

My first and favourite purchase! I got this ring at the Hell's Kitchen Flea Market for $5. It's so sparkly and I love it! I realised that I've developed a bit of an obsession with heart jewellery.

I couldn't figure out why I was so drawn to this yellow ampersand brooch, but I figured for 50 cents, I could bring it home and ponder for a bit longer. Man I love H&M. The yellow is a bit brighter in real life.

Sunglasses! I like to stock up on sunnies whenever I see cheap ones that I like (because I lose them all the time), and I loved these! The pinky red ones are from the flea market and the black are from H&M, although I discovered when I got home that they were cracked a bit so I need to swap them.

My mum loves scarves. The top one is actually a Christian Dior Men's hankerchief but it's big enough to be a scarf.

I LOVE this! We don't have diners in Australia so the idea of an All-American diner "Just like in the movies" is such a novelty for us, and this napkin dispenser seems to epitomise that! I'll have it on my kitchen table. Also on the subject of diners and "Just like in the movies", I had a piece of cherry pie today and it was a very exciting experience. So exciting that I took a photo. I can't be bothered to get into my pie obsession today but I'm sure it will come up again.

Also from Hell's Kitchen Flea Market, this cute 1960s enamel daisy brooch. I don't really wear brooches but I think I'm gonna have to start.

Yes. Hey, I'm a tourist so I'm allowed. I waited to find a t-shirt guy in Central Park rather than buy it from the hundreds of identical souvenir shops in Times Square. For some reason I had always pictured myself buying a t-shirt in Central Park, so that's what I did.

Today I bought a painting of the ice skating rink in Central park at another flea market but haven't taken a photo yet. I'm sure there'll be a lot more shopping to report on later in the week!
