Last night the Golden Globes were given out in a ceremony that was star-studded, if you are a fan of Hollywood infotainment. Mary Hart! Extra's Dayna Devon! Jim Moret of Inside Edition! And, leading the charge over on NBC, Nancy O'Dell and Billy Bush!

Anyway, it's a shame the actual awards show didn't happen, because it would have been truly bizarre. Julian Schnabel won for Best Director! Could you imagine the Schnab up there in his purple pajamas, accepting his award from, say, Martin Scorsese ("What was your name again?" he'd ask)? God, it would have been great.

This year's Globes were full of surprises, which means that our Globes predictions were as wrong as wrong could be. The awards were so spread out — only No Country for Old Men won more than one major prize, and that was for Supporting Actor and Screenplay — that there are few big winners coming out of last night's show. The exception might be Atonement, whose star had dimmed substantially in recent weeks, but whose Best Picture win at the Globes puts it back in the mix. Too bad no one knows it won.
