Since it evolved from the lute, the acoustic guitar has relied on the same, basic resources – wood and steel or a nylon-style thread. Blackbird Guitars has revised this tradition by building their guitars out of a carbon-fiber that is more stiff than wood but equally as resonant.

The Rider Nylon Blackbird from Blackbird Guitars is smaller than a full-size classical guitar, with exceptional projection, tone and sustain. The nearly indestructible carbon fiber unibody is ultra-light and all hollow, including the neck and head with a sound port at the head stock to maximize resonance. Price: starts at $1899.
