Today Stella McCartney announced she has signed a long-term exclusive license agreement with Luxottica Group S.p.A. for the design, production, and worldwide distribution of sunglasses under her brand name. The agreement, which will begin on January 1, 2009, is for an initial term of six years, automatically renewable for an additional five-year term. The first collection will be launched in Summer 2009. In signing with Luxottica, McCartney has opted not to continue with Safilo, which held her eyewear license since 2003.
