Pamela Anderson's third marriage, to Rick Salomon, has officially ended. The couple, who were married on 6th October 2007, subsequently separated on 13th December and filed for divorce, citing 'irreconcilable differences'. However, all that changed when the actress then sought an annulment.

The marriage was finally declared null and void on Monday. Unlike divorce, annulment means that the marriage is considered to have never existed and there are very specific grounds for this. In Pamela and Rick's case the marriage was annulled on grounds of fraud.

That's as much as we know as the couple have not elaborated what, exactly, the fraud is. And so we can only speculate. Did one of them lie about something? Their sexuality, their age, the reason for the marriage? It seems highly unlikely. Fraud is a broad category and could have been cited simply because it seemed convenient for the filing. Or, it could have a genuine basis.

Now here's an interesting thing: an annulment usually doesn't prevent the innocent spouse from any financial benefit from the marriage, whether it be the rights to community property, spousal support or even attorney's fees. As there seems to have been no public dispute over money, and no spousal support was included, perhaps these two have sorted any financial claim amicably. Or perhaps, the whole issue of there having been fraud means that one party doesn't have a leg to stand on?

Who knows. All we know is that it wasn't third time lucky for either Pamela or Rick. Although that's unlikely to deter either of them from tying the knot again. This is, after all, Hollywood we're talking about. Is anyone even surprised that this marriage didn't make it?
