What To Wear With: Booties

So many women are afraid of the bootie ... and shouldn't be. I have fully embraced this half shoe/half boot trend with open arms, and my steadfast fashion advice is that you do to because it looks like the bootie is going nowhere fast. To help navigate the muddy waters of what to wear with it, check out our suggestions below.

The bootie is meant to be seen. Don't hide it under long pants so only the tip peeks out. Pair instead with skirts and dresses. However, because this style of shoe cuts you off at the ankle, opt for shorter lengths when choosing a dress. This will elongate your leg. When the weather cools, you can add some black tights to create a flattering, lengthy monochromatic look.

The bootie is modern and sleek, so your look should be too. Accessorize with one over-the-top piece and some complementary bangles. Make sure not to get too blingy. Finally, up the ante with a strong multi-colored handbag.  You can get away with this as long as your dress is solid and your shoes don't compete with the overall ensemble. Remember—booties are your friends. Think of them as complements to your outfits, not the focal point.
