Kanye West and Alexis Pfifer Call Off Engagement

Rapper Kanye West and his fiancee, designer Alexis Pfifer, have called off their engagement.

The couple, who have been dating on and off since 2002, have been engaged since August 2006.

“It’s always sad when things like this end, and we remain friends,” says Phifer. “I wish him the best in his future and all of his endeavors. He’s one of the most talented people I’ve ever met.”

According to a friend of Kanye’s, the couple has had some problems recently and they have been spending less time together in the last few weeks as Kanye focuses on his “Glow in the Dark” tour.

“I haven’t seen [Alexis] around at all the last few times I’ve seen him recently,” the friend told People magazine.

Alexis showed up without her engagement ring at “Evenings in Vogue” in New York Thursday night, where her clothing line, Ghita, was featured.
